Salem Sowdeswari College (SSC) was established in 1975 by Dr J.K.K. Angappa Chettiar and Amarar Thiru. It is located in Salem, Tamil Nadu and is affiliated with Periyar University.
Salem Sowdeswari College offers B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, M.A and M.Sc programs. It also conducts professional degree courses in BCA, BBA, MBA and MCA and research courses in M.Phil and PhD.

Candidates applying for UG and PG courses will be admitted as per marks obtained in last qualifying examination.
To apply for UG courses, candidates must have passed class 12th qualifying examination;
Applicants holding bachelor’s degree in the concerned subject are eligible for PG admissions.
Those applying for MBA programme need to appear in TANCET.
Similarly, those seeking admissions to PhD and M.Phil degree courses should appear in the entrance exam conducted by the Periyar University.
To be eligible for research programs, candidates must have obtained master’s degree with minimum 55% marks in aggregate.
The application process is offline.

SSC Salem UG Admissions 2023

It offers admissions to courses such as B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA and BCA at UG level. Admissions are based on merit as per marks obtained by candidates in class 12th qualifying examination. The eligibility to seek admissions is explained below in the table:

In case of admissions to BCA, B.Sc Statistics and Computer Science, candidates who have studied Mathematics as a subject in class 12th will be given preference.
Admissions are usually held after the announcement of class 12th results in the state.

At PG level, the college offers traditional degree courses such as M.Sc, M.Com, M.A and professional course in MCA. Admissions to these courses are also based on the merit of last qualifying examination.

The eligibility to seek admissions will remain pass in bachelor’s degree in a relevant or concerned subject. The detailed eligibility for PG courses is provided below:-

To be eligible for admissions candidates must comply with the given eligibility criteria:

Candidates interested in pursuing research level studies may opt for M.Phil and PhD degree offered in both full time and part time mode. The selection of candidates will be done on the basis of marks obtained by candidates in the entrance exam conducted by the Periyar University.

SSC, Salem Application Process 2023

Application to UG and PG courses can be made in offline mode only. Candidates are requested to visit the college campus during working hours to obtain information related to the application process.

Application to research courses in M.Phil and PhD will be invited in offline mode by Periyar University.
The application fee is INR 300/- for general category candidates and free for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PH category.
The payment will be remitted via Demand Draft of any nationalized bank issued in favour of ‘The Registrar, Periyar University, Periyar Palkalai Nagar, Salem’, payable at Salem.
Candidates are requested to send a self-addressed envelope of INR 40/- of size 28X13 cms with the DD to obtain application form by post.
The envelope should be superscribed ‘Request for Application Form for M.Phil Admission’.

SSC is a part of various Scholarship schemes offered by the State and Center Government. Some of the scholarships that candidates must know of are:-

Backward Classes Welfare Department Scholarship - For the Backward/Most Backward class community.
The government of India Scholarship - For Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe students.
The government of India National Scholarship – For meritorious students given on the basis of performance in the Higher Secondary Examination.
The government of India National Scholarship - To children of a primary and secondary school teacher who have scored more than 75% in the Higher Secondary Examination.
State Collegiate Scholarship - For physically handicapped students.

My college review

Admission:

I got admission in this course after completing mine under graduate course. But Mathematics at +2 levels or any degree with at least one paper in Mathematics or Statistics at degree level is compulsory to apply for the admission. the candidate also has to produce the Provisional Certificate, Conduct Certificate from the Head of the Institution, Transfer Certificate of the previous college. Also 2 passport size photos, Prescribed fees need to give the college.
