Shri Shravannath Math Jawaharlal Nehru (SMJN) College, Haridwar, Uttarakhand was established in the year 1960 and is one of the best colleges of Haridwar. The college is affiliated to Hemwanti Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University and accredited Grade 'B' by NAAC. The aim of the institute is to fulfil the changing needs of education at national and international levels.
It offers BA, BSc and B.Com. courses at the undergraduate level and MA and M.Com. courses at postgraduate level with various specializations. The institute also offers PhD courses in six discipline, namely Sociology, Commerce, Political Science, Hindi, English and Economics. BA and M.Com are two popular courses at the college. Admission to the PhD degree is based on the entrance exam and interview. Candidates who have appeared national exams are exempted from the entrance test. Applications to the college is done online.

The application process for admission in UG and PG courses is both offline and online. Candidates must qualify the eligibility criteria before filling the application form. Admission to the UG and PG courses is based on merit in the qualifying examination and interview. Admission to PhD is based on the entrance test conducted by the university. 12th pass out in any board are eligible for this course. All admissions structure are on their website. OBC and SC/ST have a benifit on admission and fees. Exam were conducted semester wise there were no difficulties about it. Only one person is available on the colledge window for collecting admission forms.

Course syllabus was according to ucg pattern it is semester wise There are six semester in this course in total. And every semester contains four subjects. In first semester there are four subjects

The primary factor of chosing the institute was that it is a government college. Secondly, its location (presence of holy ganges near by makes the environment pious).Third being presence of good and safe environment. Facility of library and easy availability of all kind of books, journals, daily newspapers is one of the factors that can attract students. Time to time sports events take place engaging students towards extra curricular activities. And the most important factor affecting one's choice is wisdom, support and mentoring by the faculty and dean here.
