PUMBA is a Government affiliated college. ROI is the most important thing as far as the MBA course is concerned. The college has a legacy of 50 Years and a huge Alumni base. The curriculum is very disciplined. Pune location was a preference. The versatile crowd at PUMBA is a point of attraction. Dual Specialization is one more thing that makes us study about two domains. Networking opportunities are to a very good extent. The activities that are undertaken at PUMBA are very energetic and full of experiences and learnings. The curriculum is updated to the industry standards. The faculties are with well-diversified experience which becomes a key factor for the students to learn those things most efficiently.
As I have been in Mumbai throughout my graduation, so to get a chance and with a wish to attend one of the best colleges from Pune, which is opted through MHT CET score PUMBA seem to be a great opportunity. I got admitted through MHT CET score and took admission in Cap Round 2, as during our admission period there was a lot of issues regarding fake scores, so our entire process started late and I took admission during mid of September 2019. I prefer PUMBA because it's Government College so obviously fees is the 1st parameter and also the institute has experienced faculty. I have previously gone through various websites for getting to know about the college, and of course, collegedunia is one of those.
One of the reasons is the college is based in Pune with all the amenities available in a small radius at an effective cost. The second reason is the strength of the college is just 180 students compared to other colleges with an intake of more than 400 students so the competition is just between 180 students and the best part is the ROI as the fee is less and if you belong to a category then the fee is not more than 10500 and the hostel fee, if you have a good merit score, will be just 1500. The admission process was so subtle and easy thanks to the faculties and the staff they were so helpful and made it easy for all the students. All the steps were well organized from document verification to college fee submission everything went smooth. Before choosing this college I did a lot of research using various websites such a the official website of Pumba and then collegedunia.com which gave all the information related to the college with student reviews which was really helpful
Firstly, it is the best B-school in Pune. The fact that Pumba is a Govt. College. The faculty for Operations is very good and finally, the fees is very less. I had a friend who was already there in Pumba, so it was easy for me to ask him about the college.
Pumba is the no. 1 college providing MBA degree in Savitribai Phule Pune University. Pumba accepts Mah MBA/MMS Cet score for Maharashtra students and for all India category students, it accepts Cat, Atma, Mat, Cet and mah Cet score as well. The fees for a 2 year MBA program is less than 1,50,000 including the hostel. I got information about this college from youtube & google.
PUMBA comes second in your mind(After Sydenham) as a highest ROI colleges and 4th best college in MBA CET CAP round. Situated in the heart of Pune City in a lush green campus, PUMBA is like a second home to us. Admission requirements: MBA CET: General cutoff around 99 percentile. CMAT: All India cutoff 99.98 percentile. Fees are around 66,194 for one year. Teaching faculties are well experienced, academics is one of the best qualities, one should opt for PUMBA.
Quite good and honestly, most non-Maharastra students tend to not take admissions beyond these 5–6 colleges. You may have to score in the range of 98%ile to 99.9 to get into some of these colleges.
There are fair chances of Non - Maharashtra students of getting the above-mentioned colleges under All India Category seats as per DTE Maharashtra for MS and PGDM programs. In colleges such as SIMSREE & PUMBA, more seats are reserved for students from Maharashtra as compared to seats for students from the All India category. You can refer to the DTE Maharashtra website for more information.
Direct admission to PUMBA (Department of Management Sciences, University of Pune) is not possible as per their admission guidelines. PUMBA offers admission to its MBA program through a centralized admission process based on the scores of MAH CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test), CAT (Common Admission Test), CMAT (Common Management Admission Test), or GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test).
As you have mentioned that you scored a very low percentile in MAH CET, you may still have other options to consider. See if you have enough CAT or GMAT score. Firstly, you can try for other MBA colleges which accept admission through other entrance exams or even direct admission. Secondly, you can opt for a job or take up some relevant work experience for a year or two and then apply for an MBA later.
Explore all possible options before making a decision. You can also contact the admission office of PUMBA for more information regarding their admission process and eligibility criteria. For better reference check the table below;

Candidates who are allotted seats by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) need to confirm their admission at the Department of Management Sciences (PUMBA) by submitting their original documents and paying the fees during CAP Round 1 & 2, as per the specified dates by DTE. Seat allotment is done based on ranking or percentiles obtained in CET exams through CAP Rounds 1, 2, and 3.
It is important to note that only after being selected through CAP rounds, candidates become eligible for admission to PUMBA. There are no management quota seats available in PUMBA as it is a government department and one of India's premier business schools, which operates autonomously under Savitribai Phule Pune University.
First of all, congrats on that percentile. Since the cutoff is 98-99+ and you are from the general category, unfortunately your percentile is not enough for PUMBA. Using your CET score, you can still apply for PGDM courses in different NL Dalmia, Wellingkar, KJSIMSR Mumbai, XIMR Mumbai, and Chetana institutions.
Yes, it is possible to cancel admission after completing the first year in PUMBA if you score well in the next year's MBA CET exam. However, if you choose to do so, you will have to repeat the first year of the MMS course at a different college if you decide to take admission in another institute. Your earlier allotment or CAP participation will not be considered in any way for the new MMS course. It is important to note that you will have to justify the one-year gap or the first year of MMS at a different college during your summer and final placement interviews. This scenario is not uncommon, as many students take admission in a particular institute due to unpredictability in the entrance exam results.
PUMBA (Department of Management Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University) is a well-known and reputed B-school in India. PUMBA offers a 2-year full-time MBA program and an EMBA program.
PUMBA has a strong faculty with experience in both academics and industry, and the curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of management principles and practices. PUMBA also has tie-ups with reputed organizations for internships and placement opportunities.
Overall, PUMBA is a good B-school, and if you meet the eligibility criteria and the program aligns with your need and career goals, you can consider it for taking admission. You can also talk to current students or Alumni of PUMBA to get a better sense.
If a person can't get into the best schools in India, he or she might want to think about going to PUMBA.
Yes, it is possible for non-Maharashtrian students for admission to PUMBA MBA. The admission guidelines don’t tell any specifics about the same, but the state provides certain benefits to students with state domicile. But it is possible for non-Maharashtrian students to get admission to PUMBA, they have to score slightly more and have to give a good interview.
