My experience during GME course in HIMT

I appreciate several aspects of college. The infrastructure is impressive with centralised ac and digital classroom. The focus on discipline and punctuality is commendable . Sports activities and gym facilities are excellent.
Our day starts at morning 5.30 muster with some running and workouts . After the classes @ 1545 cadets will be engaging in gym activities,sports . I myself in band committee daily practicing band and Marchfast

Dislikes

Placement Experience:

Regarding placements companies like VR maritime ,Goodwood ,Eastway, BW , Dynocom , Marshall visit our campus once in a month and are selecting cadets with interviews. Truely by Gods grace I got placed as engine cadet in Synergy Maritime. If you stay with good marks and knowledge in academics you will have higher chances of getting placed .

By every month one company will come for placement and until now the companies likegoodwood eastaway bw dynocom tankers d'amico Marshall sanmar for various streams of maritime studies both engine and deck side And I got placed in synergy maritime by god's grace and keep on trying and make good yourself in academics they companies always look for people in good academics as well as extra curricularm

My experience at HIMT pursuing GME

The best part of HIMT is the faculties and instructor, I acquired lot of knowledge and skills from them which I didn't receive during my 4 years of mechanical degree program.
The campus life is colorful with full of activities to keep you engaged as onboard a ship

Dislikes

We get minimal leaves, most of the time we are in campus only.

Placement Experience:

From first semester end only we are eligible for placements, various companies like Goodwood, Damico, Eastaway, Dynacom, Sanmar, Bergebulk, comes for placements at HIMT College. Myself I'm placed at Synergy Marine Group . Our first 6 months is training period and during that period we get a stipend of 50000 per month. After clearing the 4thengineer competency our salary increases to 1.5 lakhs to 2.5 lakhs per month and once you become chief engineer you can draw a salary of about 15 lacs per month. You also get an NRE status of you sail forore tan 6months in a financial year. Around 85% of students get placed before passing out and the remaining in another 6 months time.

Journey through 1 year of GME @ HIMT College

The hands on job practice what we get in HIMT, I don't think any other college will provide such facilities, faculties train is to become the best seafarers in the industry
We have beautiful green lush campus, lot of places to sit and meditate in the calm nature, we also have a temple within campus

Dislikes

We get minimal leaves as it's a fully residential course and they train us to not take leaves to have that ship kind of feel where you don't get many shore leaves

Placement Experience:

As I mentioned early, there are lot of placement opportunities with HIMT college, Many big companies like MOL, Synergy, Goodwood, Eastaway, Damico, Dynacom, Sanmar, ASP ships, Western Shipping,Berge Bulk, Marlow often recruits cadets from HIMT college, in my batch 30 are already placed out of 40, who are passing out in August, remaining cadets are lined up for other companies visiting the campus in coming months. So on an overall HIMT is a safe place to begin your Maritime Career.

The Galley or the dining hall is quite spacious and the food is also good on an average day.
The gym and sport facilities like table tennis indoor rowing football cricket etc

Dislikes

Certain food items are limited for each student so cannot always eat with the heart content
It is prohibited to bring food items inside the college campus so we can hardly taste anything outside the college kitchen

Placement Experience:

From 3year or 5th semester for engineering cadets and 2year or 4th semester for Bsc Cadets. All the major and famous shipping companies visit our campus from time to time to take interviews and hire cadets. Companies namely MOLTA, MOLMI, FLEET , EASTAWAY, VR MARITIME, d'AMICO , MSC , MAERSK, PIL etc etc and many more reputed companies. The lowest they get paid depends on the company however lowest can be 350$/mo and the highest for a cadet can be 900$/mo. Almost 80-90% of the cadets gets placed every year. Our batch got a 100% campus placement record. I got my job through campus placement.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I took this course because to become a sailor was my childhood passion. The course teaches all the aspects and rules to be followed while working as a sailor. The teaching methods are excellent and considers every single students.

The college is having a good placement record other than other colleges 75% placement assurance is there for a batch
The faculties here in college are well trained and having experience on board

Parking Facilities are not good Enough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is pretty good it covers almost all the aspects of learning there are both practical and theoretical exams which will help you get knowledge about this field. The sem exams are conducted on an interval of 6 months and the exam are not so hard.

From second year onwards the curriculum is best and only focuses on the marine insights. And as bsc nautical science is concerned the student will be able to know the A-Z about the ships and the working on ships, but I don't know why they have given maths in first year which is of no use
