Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology was established in 1919 under the Government of West Bengal. The college is affiliated to West Bengal University of Technology.
The undergraduate course offered is B.Tech in three specializations i.e. Computer Science and engineering, Information Technology and Leather Technology with total intake of 130 students. GCELT B. Tech in three specializations. The selection of the candidates is based on the marks obtained in 10+2 and rank in WBJEE. The minimum eligibility criteria to apply for B. Tech is passed in 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects and at least 45% aggregate marks and hold a valid rank in WBJEE.
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is conducted by WBJEE board. It is a common entrance examination conducted for under graduate and post-graduate level courses in various institutes in West Bengal. The process of application is offline. - Application form can be obtained from the admission office in GCELT.
- Fill the application form correctly. Attach the following document (two photocopies each) with the application form:
- 10th & 10+2 mark sheet and passing certificates
- Bachelor’s degree and mark sheet
- WBJEE Admit Card and Score Card
- Migration Certificate
- Character Certificate
- Caste Certificate, if applicable
- Physical Disability certificate, if applicable.
- Six passport sized photographs
- Submit the application form along with the admission fees either in Cash at the admission office or by Demand Draft in favor of ‘Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology’, payable at Kolkata.
- Application fees is INR 200.

- In our college All faculty members are very careful and helpful.
- Our college location plays vital role for students.

- As it is a government college it does not provide us good placement or internship opportunity.
- our college is not so moderate. So our lab facility is not so good.
Admission:
If anyone wants to study in this course he shall pass higher secondary with pcm combination with min 60% marks. Then He Shall give WBJEE exam. If he get good rank he can join. In december month online application starts. In april month exam is conducted. exam level is not so tough. To get admission in my college a good rank is needed.

- One will hardly have the energy to visit college regularly so the only thing that i liked is the location of the college
- Also a few faculty members who have now become a part of my family
Dislikes
- The placement cell is absolutely trash as they neither provide internships nor job opportunities
- Most other faculty members don't interact much for which the subject doesn't become interesting enough
Admission:
I gave WBJEE and secured a rank of 3230. My marks was 54. I gave a list of colleges along with their respective fields and got selected in this college. Initially I got IT but with passing rounds of counselling I got promoted to CSE.

- Faculties are very helpful. They always inspire and motivate you.
- Senior and alumnis are also helpful. In academic and non-academic both cases they help you.
Dislikes
- Classes are not regular. As students are not regular, classes are irregular.
- Some teachers are very boring. In their subjects they are fail to create the interest in the subject
Admission:
GCELT is a government College in west bengal. So through the WBJEE exam one can get admission here. You have to secure a good rank (<7000-8000). After scoring a good rank, there is counseling process based on the rank, got in WBJEE. Then after getting seat in the college, you have to visit the college for verification. Then in the college or the college website, you can find other details about the college. There is SC,ST seat reservation and also seat reservation for economically weaker sections.

I took and cleared WBJEE which is a PCM-based entrance exam. Details on the dates of WBJEE can be found on their official website. Being a general candidate I did not avail of reservation benefits and secured a CS branch with a WBJEE rank of 3300.

To get admission for this course you need to give WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam). The cut-off for the Leather Technology generally goes on the lower side for General it is easy to get admission under 15k rank & for reservation people with more rank will not be an issue.

At first, I complete my 12th exam in science. Then I attended the WBJEE exam. After I good score on the WBJEE exam then I go to the counseling process. My college had 3 streams CSE, IT, and Leather Technology. I prefer to join Leather Technology. My college Application fees are 5000. My college's applications date provide College portal website. The admission process is very smooth, no improvement is required. Some ST, SC, OBC, and TFW candidate seats are reserved by college faculty.

I am studying in GCELT at salt lake. The reason for choosing this college is its location. I am a general candidate. The admission is based on wbjee rank. The cutoff goes under 7k for IT and 6k for cse and 10k for leather technology

The admission process is really appreciatable here, it is a step by step process. Professors & stuff are really student friendly. They used to in my 4 years also. Registrar Roudrashis Hota and Other officials did an excellent job during the admission. Their process is so easy that one can definitely understand all the things.

I heard about that college that many students of this college cracked the GATE exam in the running year and the college is very famous as it is established in 1919 and complete it's 100 years of glory. The college is a state government college of West Bengal and its admission process is depend on the WBJEE exam. I prefer this college to everyone because according to my it is the best college for leather technology in West Bengal and as it is a government college, all the expenses are very low.
