My thoughts regarding Indira Gandhi Medical College Shimla as a third year MBBS student

I liked that my college was on the oldest medical college of north india as well as of Himachal Pradesh.
It has more than enough qualified facilities in every department.

Dislikes

The college campus is not closed it has an open campus. Which means the different buildings of the institution are not at one place these are scattered all over the town.
Through we have a lot of infrastructure we don't have that much space. And the building is seemingly old.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course if MBBS is very large as it has 19 subjects. The course is 5.5 yrs long in which the final year is internship. Due to its large syllabus the tests and exams occurs frequently. In this course the first year is pre clinical second and third year is para clinical and the fourth year is of clinical subjects. The teaching method consists of both thoery and practical. From 2nd year onwards we get to have the clinical exposure as we have our clinical postings in various departments in the hospital.

Great exposure of patients due to a very large patient flow
Specimen and other instrument which are in abundant quantity so that they are in reach of every student

Dislikes

Campus is shorter one and has less no of lecture theaters
Gynae hospital is far away from main hospital and it's very hectic to go there

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is very large but is necessary too. The curriculum is basically designed for the practical approach hence maximum of our classes are of practical or clinics. Their are very frequent test which some time feels like burden.

I do like the faculty of my college as the teachers are very good and experienced in their fields of knowledge.
The college have an anti ragging policy as well which I personally like the most.

Dislikes

The sanitary facilities are not good in the college.
No good interaction between seniors and juniors.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum related to this course is very vast yet interesting and this course do prepare us for real world as well by making us interact with live patients and give them treatment according to their need , the exam's difficulty level is to some extent is high but if the concepts are clear then it would be easy to clear the exam.

I want to work in medical field so i chose this course and this course have many scopes also.The frequency and timing of exam is 3hrs and that is enough . We can adjust in anywhere , any situation easily and the curriculum helps us to study well. Management is quite good. Mangement head always keep in touch with us.
Teachers always take responsibility to teach students properly.

Dislikes

But i more i dislike, hostel distance is very far from college
Hostel road condition is very bad. Water supply is also in limits

College faculty is great. Teachers are well trained. Exams level is also in student level. Revisen classes also conducted regular test. College class mangement is also fine and facility provide to us.i am very happy to choose this college
