FAQs

Ques: Is it worth it to pursue computer science from Iowa State University?

Ans: Pursuing a computer science degree from Iowa State University (ISU) can be worth it, especially for students interested in a solid, accredited program. The curriculum offers a strong foundation in key areas like programming, algorithms, and cybersecurity, with opportunities for research and specialization. ISU also provides valuable industry connections, internships, and a strong alumni network, with graduates going on to work at top tech companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and Google. However, students should consider the location and career goals, as Ames, Iowa, may not have as many tech companies as larger cities.

Ques: What are the pros and cons of attending Iowa State University?

Ans: Iowa State University offers a great experience with its beautiful and relaxing campus, friendly professors, and a supportive environment for learning. The town of Ames is welcoming, and there are plenty of student organizations and activities to enjoy. The university’s strong community and safety features make it especially comfortable for international students.

However, some students may find it challenging due to the need for self-motivation, as there is less academic oversight. The cold winters can be tough for those not used to such climates, and the location in Ames, a smaller town, might not appeal to those seeking the hustle and bustle of a large city.

Overview

I opted for Iowa State University for a couple of reasons and the first is because of their great programs. They have a number of exceptional degrees including nationally known engineering programs. They also have really low costs for admission which is a huge benefit.
