- The BA/MA program in astrophysics & space physics is designed for those well-prepared students who wish to obtain a master’s degree by adding a fifth year of intensive study in astrophysics & space physics.
- The program is offered by the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) in conjunction with the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (GRS).
- Astronomy encompasses the most interesting physical phenomena in the universe, from the atmospheres of planets to the discovery and characterization of planets orbiting other stars, the nature of galaxies and the stars within them, the supermassive black holes at the centers of large galaxies, and how the universe got to be the way it is. Astronomy & Physics (A&P) majors gain a broad knowledge of the principles of astronomy and physics, including planets in the solar system, stars and star formation, the nature of the interstellar medium, galaxies and cosmology, mechanics, electricity and magnetism, statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics, and mathematical methods of physics. A&P students learn to communicate astronomical information effectively to a variety of audiences using a variety of media and methods.
- They learn to think critically and evaluate, interpret, and solve problems related to astronomy, physics, and general scientific topics.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have proof of their senior secondary school transcripts with a minimum B average.
- Students required to maintain at least a 2.0 overall GPA.
- Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) or B1 Advanced – 185.
- Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English (CPE) or B2 Proficiency – 185.
- Students must be qualified in IELTS or TOEFL and PTE to get admission in this program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students required a Higher Secondary Certificate/ISC (State board exams may also be considered for admission).
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
