Tips to enhance your application
- Try to connect your profile with what the department or program is looking for. Mention the names of a few professors, their work and why you would like to work under them. Have a strong Letter of Recommendation.
Admission Experience
- The ROI of the United States is better than any other country in the world as well, and the academic reputation is great, with one of the top 20 universities in the world and many Nobel laureates. The Economics and Business departments are great in the top 5 programs. The alumna is very helpful in career guidance.
Class Schedule
- There are usually three classes of three hours a week that run for one quarter or 10-12 weeks. The classes are mostly in the evenings from 6 pm to 9 pm and sometimes in the afternoon. There are many Indian students in the cohort of 35-55 students in each class. It comprises part-time, full-time, and online students.
Faculty
- The Faculty-to-Student Ratio is 1 to 35-55. Most professors are highly educated with at least a phD degree in relevant fields. All of them have tremendous work experience of 8-15 years, and some of the senior faculty members have over 20 years of experience. Since all of them also work in companies, they do help in getting referrals.
Campus Life
- There are various departments and the campus is really big and beautiful with a lot of scenery and greenery. There are around 607 different libraries with different fascinating architecture, and they are very silent to study in, with conference rooms available for booking for group activities and meetings.
Part Time Jobs
- The rate of payment is hourly, so the jobs pay you around 18 dollars per hour on average, but the range varies from 16 to 25. There are several jobs that can pay you around 30 to 45 as well, but they are very rare. These jobs can be found on the university job portals or by word of mouth. You take one or two interviews for them.
- Almost everyone gets some kind of part-time job. RA/TA requires you to have some experience, but other jobs, such as building manager, proctoring, etc., can be easily found.
- The time commitment is usually within 10 to 15 hours a week. International students are allowed to work 20 hours a week. It is advised not to work beyond that.
Placement
- 80-90 percent of the graduate students get some other full-time job, so a job is guaranteed, but it may or may not be the one you want, like the profile, pay or location. The salary range depends on your profile and caliber. On average, though, it should be around 70,000 annually. The information can be found on the university page as well.
Accommodation
- Accommodation for UG is on campus with very good but very expensive dorm rooms, with a dining hall. For others, I guess it is off-campus. There are many, many leasing companies that help students find accommodation. Some find places on Facebook as well. It is better to live near campus than away from it.
