Anusuya Sridharan Review at University Of Houston [UH], Houston | Collegedunia

University of Houston

AS
6.8 /10

The Master of Science architecture degree here had the sustainable architecture line, and that was something I was really looking forward to learning and leaning towards as an architect. It was fun and a great experience. Got to meet a lot of new people and was able to find help easily whenever I needed it. And loved the hangout spots.

Course Curriculum :

It is very relevant and gives you the option to pick out your classes and how long you wish to take the course, depending on the classes taken and if you want to do an internship in between. The professors are very friendly and share a lot of knowledge with you on the current scenario of the field

Exams :

-IELTS: listening 8.0, reading 7.5, writing 7.0, speaking 6.0- GRE not necessary that’s it. -Anna University: B. Arch: 3.33 GPA -CBSE- 80% (12th) -CBSE- 80% (10th) -SOP, 3 LoRs and CV required. In SOP talk about yourself, your experience growing up and the relevant knowledge you gained related to the field you are taking. Make sure to cover school and college subjects and events attended and participated in. -Interview: No

Placement :

You have career fairs happening every semester, and they are very helpful to reach out to as many companies as possible within a short period.

Internship :

No. Did not done any internship

Events :

The events on campus and inside the on-campus apartment building in the leasing office and the architecture building (reminds you of Harry Potter a lot).

Fees :

I took the program to be completed in a year, so my fee was $40,000

Scholarship :

Tried getting a scholarship but had a tough time getting one so unfortunately, I didn’t.

Faculty :

The faculty are very friendly, and the majority are alumni of the school and very sociable and approachable. Professor Dietmar Froelich was my master project design studio faculty and he is the kindest professor you can find. He has helped me through design blocks and broadened my design ideas.

Campus Life :

Several activities are happening on campus, especially if you live on campus, and it’s easier to access all, too. We have a really large library on campus that is really peaceful to study in and to take prints as well. Wi-Fi is available throughout campus- guest and student/faculty. You have a large recreation centre on campus with an extensive gym, pool, playing courts, etc.

Hostel :

There are several options for on-campus housing, which can be found on the UH website, and off campus, you have Med Center Apts. , Scotland Apts. , Stratford Apts. among the few that are most taken especially among Indians. The rents start at a minimum of 650$ to 700$ for any kind of accommodation, but that may change depending on how many people will stay with you and how you split the bill. I would suggest contacting someone who lives in one of those apartments to know the cost deduction better
