Ques. Is the Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication at Amity Mumbai a full-time on-campus program or can it be done remotely?
Ans. The Ph.D. (Journalism and Mass Communication) Full Time program at Amity University Mumbai is a full-time on-campus program. Scholars are required to be physically present at the Mumbai campus for coursework, research activities, and interactions with their research guide. Remote or online completion is not permitted for the full-time mode. If you are a working professional, you may consider the Part Time mode (course_id: 22650), which has different attendance requirements.
Ques. What is the difference between the Full Time and Part Time Ph.D. in Journalism at Amity Mumbai, and which is better?
Ans. The Full Time Ph.D. has a minimum duration of 3 years, while the Part Time Ph.D. has a minimum duration of 3.5 years. Full-time scholars are eligible for the Amity Research Fellowship (ARF) stipend of Rs. 37,000/month, while part-time scholars are not. Part-time scholars must submit an NOC from their employer and an Employment Verification Certificate at the time of joining. The academic fee for part-time at Mumbai campus is Rs. 33,000/semester vs. Rs. 38,000/semester for full-time. The choice depends on your professional commitments and financial situation.
Ques. Can I get admission to the Ph.D. program without appearing for the APET if I have cleared UGC-NET?
Ans. Yes. Candidates who have cleared UGC-NET (Category 1, 2, or 3) in the relevant field (Journalism and Mass Communication or a related subject) within the validity period of their certificate are exempted from the Amity PhD Entrance Test (APET). They are required to appear only for the Faculty Research Committee (FRC) Interview. You must submit a scanned copy of your NET certificate along with the application form or via email, at least two days before your scheduled PET date.
