Media Master’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication with a minimum of 55% marks or its equivalent grade ‘B’ on UGC 7-point scale.
Liberal Arts Master’s degree in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks

Bennett University PhD Selection Criteria

  • Candidates will be selected based on the UGCNET/CSIR/GATE/GRE or BRAT entrance test conducted by the university.
  • Candidates with valid marks in UGCNET/CSIR/GATE/GRE are exempted from Bennett University’s PhD entrance test.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Personal Interview.

The admissions to the PhD programs are granted on the basis of the Bennett Research Aptitude Test conducted by Bennett University followed by an interview

  • The University Admission Committee will shortlist the eligible candidates after scrutinizing the submitted applications
  • The eligible and shortlisted candidates are then required to attempt the Bennett research Aptitude Test (BRAT) conducted by the university
  • The selected students are put through personal interview or Presentation or Viva-voce as according to the respective program for which student has been selected.
  • The students are then finally selected for the PhD program
  • The selected students are required to pay the institutional Fee or Security Deposit 
  • Lastly, the candidate may join the institute for the commencement of classes.

Bennett University PhD Exam Pattern

The weightage for admission shall be 70% marks in the written examination and 30% marks in the interview.

BRAT-Engineering and applied sciences

  • The syllabus shall be the same as the written exam for UGC-NET/ CSIR/ GATE/ GRE examinations
  • The student should take the entrance exam in their relevant area/field to the student discipline
  • The test for engineering students will be of 1-hour duration and the questions will be both subjective as well as objective.

BRAT-Law 

  • The syllabus for BRAT-law may comprise of contemporary issues on public policy development, it will be based on the student’s interface of law with humanities/ business administration/ Science and Technology/ English 
  • The test for law students will be of 2 hours duration and the questions will be essay type or short note answers.

BRAT-Management 

  • The entrance exam for management students will comprise of 2 sections carrying 50% age each
  • Section A will be of Research Methodology where they will be expected to demonstrate knowledge of research processes and understanding of quantitative and qualitative research paradigms.
  • Section B will be of Principles of Management and will include basic functions and skills under management, management theories and their applications, understanding of the relationship between strategic, tactical, and operational plans.
  • The test for management students will be of 2 hours duration and the questions will be only subjective

BRAT-Media 

  • The syllabus for the BRAT-media entrance exam will consist of general aptitude, research methodology and communication research methods and theories of mass communication 
  • The test for media students will be 90 minutes in duration and the questions will be objective type
