Eligibility Criteria

Aspirants seeking admission to 4 year Full-time BFSc Program should meet the following criteria as specified by the institute.

Academic Requirement

The Candidate should be 17 years of age as on 1^st July in the year of application.
The candidate must be a domicile of West Bengal.
The candidate must pass Higher Secondary ( 10+2) Examination of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination in science stream from any recognized Board/ Council from any institution within West Bengal.
The candidate must pass the Higher Secondary (10+2) or its equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all the above four subjects in regular class mode.
The candidate must obtain at least 50 % marks (40 % in case of candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBCA, OBC-B, PwD) in above four subjects taken together.
The selection of students for admission will be done as per merit list without any Entrance Examination. The merit list will be prepared according to the percentage of total marks obtained in the subjects of H.S. or it's equivalent examinations as stated above.

The reservations seats of SC-22%, ST-6%, OBC-A-10%, OBC-B-7%, VCI Nominee-15% for B.V.Sc. Course and ICAR Nominee-15% for B.F.Sc. & B.Tech. (D.T.) course, Person with Disability (PwD)-5%*

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is a 4 year degree program and any one who love the fishes and fisheries and aquatic animals and more than the ornamental fishes can apply for this college. In our ug degree program there are two semester per year. And each semester contains 2 terms one is midterm which contains 30 marks and another one contains 70 marks. The teaching techniques of the professor are really good they teach us both audio visual also they clear our doubts in extra classes

Firstly the most common problem sometimes there are damage of drinking water system
Hostels should be cleaned properly so that no infections are happen

Our bachelor of fishery sciences course has total 4 year degree program and I think students who wants for a different course for studying always can apply for fisheries. Those who have a great interest in fish and aquatic animals and ornamental fishes can apply. This is best scope for them.

Actually I have a great interest in fish and fisheries. So I choose this college . And this college is a good college of India at our state so fixed to get admission here All the courses of this degree course r really good and about teaching method it is very good that all the professors are always try to knowing us all the topics in a simplest way and also practical works are help us to know deeply the fishery field. There are 2 semester each year and one semester contains 2 terms one midterm happen 3 months after new semester start ,contains 30 marks and second one endterm which happen 2 months after midterm and contains 70 marks including practicals. Pros and cons of WBUAFS

Number one thing I liked is affordability. I think all the expenses are quite cheap.
Number two is friendliness among the students,seniors and juniors.

Dislikes

Number one thing I disliked is college labs . They need to improve quite a lot.
Number two is there is no drinking water facility in hostels. You have go to mess for this

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I want to pursue a career in agriculture and allied sciences that's why I choose this course. The university has pretty good faculties. Our college has a 1: 6.5 faculty: student ratio. The qualification of the faculty is great. Among 26 faculties 22 faculties have Ph.D. and the other 4 are also pursuing their Ph.D. in their respective fields. The teaching method is quite good. I can assure you that it will be worth your bachelor's degree but I recommend doing a master's from another college. Exams will be on a semester basis i.e. every 6 months there will be one-semester end term and before the end term, there will be one mid-term. So basically for one semester, you have to appear 2 exams; one is mid term then the other is end-term. Exams are not difficult at all. Questions are from what you are taught in the class.

I like the teachers, the faculty members, their teaching methods and also the classroom and library in our library there are not only Fishery related books,there are also various kinds of journals in morden science and technology .
Campus Life is also good seniors are cooperative and helpful various kinds of sports are played in the faculty . Cultural activities like drama,song ,dance is performed by the students

Dislikes

The only thing that I dislike the library facility,E resources is available but it is limited.
Campus Life is overall good but coaching facility is not available in the sports events.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually,From my Childhood I love to see the aquariums and ornamental fishes so my dream is to become an aquaculturist and solve the problem of fish farmer . Fishery is also a sunrise sector in India .If we use our country's wetlands, reservoirs properly then it's very easy to reduce the food scarcity and malnutrition. Faculty is very good having well educated, helpful and cooperative teachers . Laboratories is also good,lots of chemical and instruments available for practical.There are 44 students in one year class . Faculty have lots of educated teachers, students and researchers.Most of the teachers are phd passed.In our faculty there are lots of research projects are done like fish preservation methods, intensive,semi intensive farming,electro fishing etc.Teaching methods are also good teachers teach us through projectors and PPT slides. Exams are taken at the interval of 6 months. In one semester we have to pass both mid term and end term exam.The question is moderate level.

Its academic quality guidances from the teacher and the seniors side
Its cultural activities is superb. Huge scope is here to expose one's ability to do something hatke or can say different.

Dislikes

Playground is not so big that's the problem.
Nothing much like that. Dislike is my home is far away from that that's the only shortcoming what i am facing here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because I love fish and I heard that there is a bright future in this line so I took admission in this course. There are an average of 40 students in class. All over West Bengal students are admission to this college. There are very experienced and highly qualified professors are available they teach high-quality teaching. They interact with the students so the students feel free and learn properly. We have 8 semesters in this course. We have 10 subjects in every semester. There are midterm exams and end-semester exams to conduct a full semester. The exams are not so easy we have to read properly. A semester is conducted in the gap of 6 months.

Basically, it is a professional course. So we can get any type of company job or project in this course which is not available easily in the general course. so mainly for this purpose, students choose this course. our faculty is very small as only the fishery sub is there. maximum 200 students are there in bfsc pg and Ph.D. for pg and Ph.D. admission entrance exam will be done..it is a government college. teaching methods are good overall..here no tuition is available for this course. students are totally depending on the teacher and senior. The faculty is so small ..so senior juniors stay here together as family member. seniors are very helpful..in a year 2 sem were there(like for the first year 1st and 2nd sem), and for 1 sem total 6 months time we get. it is not so difficult to pass the exam in the semester.

The student who has an interest in fisheries can go for this course. On average 40 students can pursue this course in a year. There is 2 semester in a year and every semester has a mid-term exam and end term exam (external). After passing 4 years, the student is awarded with the provisional degree certificate. It is not very difficult to pass if you study sincerely and attend the lectures of professors.
