Kalyani University provides Bachelor’s of Education (B.Ed) program for a minimum duration of 2 years. The medium of instruction is Bengali and English. The advertisement for admission starts in the month of June of each academic year. Candidates can apply by filling the application form online on the official institute website.

  • B.Ed is spread across 4 semesters.
  • Basic eligibility is bachelor’s/ master’s degree in relevant disciplines.
  • Selection to the course is based on the candidate's academic performance.

Candidates seeking admissions to B.Ed program of Kalyani University must satisfy the below mentioned criteria:

  • Applicants must have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in any field (a school subject) from a recognized University/ Institution.
  • Applicants must have secured 50% marks in either a bachelor's Degree or in the Master’s Degree in School subjects.
  • BE/ BCA/ MCA with Science and/ or Mathematics as a subject with an aggregate of 55% marks are also eligible for admissions to B.Ed.
  • Teachers of the secondary/ higher secondary level may apply through proper channels as a deputed candidate.
  • Relaxation in aggregate marks will be provided to SC/ ST/ PH and other candidates as per GOI norms. 

Admission Guidelines

Kalyani University B.Ed Admission Guidelines

Kalyani University provides admissions to B.Ed program solely based on the merit prepared through the marks obtained in the qualifying exam. No separate entrance test is required for admissions.

  • 50% of seats will be reserved for fresh students.
  • The ratio of students for Home University and other universities is 80:20.
  • 50% of the seats will be reserved for untrained in-service or Deputed teachers of Classes 9th-12th.
  • For applicants having Honors, the marks and aggregate in the Honors subjects will be considered.
  • For applicants having a general degree without Honors, the combined marks of general subjects will be considered.
  • Reservation will be present for SC/ST /PWD (Minimum disability 40%) candidates as per State Government rule.
  • For fresher candidates, the merit list will be prepared separately.
  • Total 50 students are admitted to the course every year.

Kalyani University B.Ed Course Details

Kalyani University provides B.Ed program for bachelor’s and master’s students. The two academic years course is further divided into 4 semesters. Each academic year comprises two semesters.

Categories of Admissions: Students admitted to the program are categorized as:

  1. Collegiate Candidates: Such candidates should maintain at least 75% attendance in the theoretical as well as in practical papers.
  2. Non Collegiate Candidates: Such candidates should maintain at least 60% attendance in the theoretical as well as in practical papers.
  3. Discollegiate Candidates: Candidates who fail to keep minimum 60% attendance in the theoretical papers are Discollegiate Candidates.
  4. Casual Candidates: Collegiate or Non-Collegiate candidates who fail to qualify the final examination of the current session will be allowed to sit for any of the next consecutive two years final examinations with the permission of the university authority as a casual candidate.

Exam Structure: The theory paper shall be of 3 hours of 100 marks. There will be 2 papers of 50 marks each. The allotted time for written examination shall be 3 hours for a paper of 100 marks and that of 2 hours for a paper of 50 marks.

I think that B. Ed should be a 1 year couse as it is unnecessary to stretch the course. We will be sent for internship in school however no recruitment shall be provided. Faculty here are more or less good however time efficiency should be maintained.

The fee is a bit expensive at 75,000 INR each year making it 1,50,000 INR for the two year of course. The college takes admission in April - May of every year. The date of commencement of classes is fixed at first July every year.

The fee is feasible at just 3,600 INR a year. As the B.Ed course offered here is just of one year, the total fee is 3,600 INR only. Also, there is relaxation on the tuition fee for poor students, my producing a certificate of proof.
