Annamalai University offers 4 years full-time B.Sc Agriculture program inclusive of 8 semesters. Admission for the session 2024-25 is yet to be announced. The admission process for the BSc Agriculture program at Annamalai University is based on academic merit followed by counselling. Annamalai University BSc Agriculture Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: The minimum educational qualification required for B. Sc Agriculture at Annamalai University is a 10+2 pass from a recognized board, with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the Science stream with the combination of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, Chemistry, Botany/ Zoology.
  • Age: The candidate should be not more than 21 years of age on the 1st of July of the year of admission. No age limit is given for SC/ ST/ OBC students.
  • Nativity: 
  • Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed from 8th to 12th standard in the state are eligible to apply without enclosing the “Nativity Certificate”. 
  • Native children who have passed from 8th to 12th standard from a different state are eligible to apply after enclosing a “Nativity Certificate”. 
  • Children of All India Service Tamil Nadu Cadre Officers are eligible to apply. 
  • Children of employees in the Public Sector who are permanent workers and have worked for the past five years are eligible to apply after enclosing a certificate from the employer or firm. 
  • Reservation: Students belonging to the reserved criteria like SC/ST/ OBC are allowed 5% or more relaxations on their aggregate marks during admission. The basic qualifications for each reserved category is given in the table below:

Annamalai University BSc Agriculture Admission Criteria

  • Applicants will be selected on the basis of merit. The university will release a merit list considering the reservations, nativity, and will do the normalisation of marks. 
  • Selection for candidates with qualifying examination other than Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary (HSC) Exam is done through the Normalisation of Marks and Inter-Se Merit procedure. 
  • This is done in accordance with the Normalisation Procedure passed in the Tamil Nadu Admission in Professional Educational Institutions Act, 2006.
  • The normalization procedure creates an equivalence for the highest marks in the State board and other boards.
  • The highest marks in relevant subjects are considered for the normalisation procedure excluding national Boards (CBSE, ICSE) where the highest mark obtained by the student at National Level is taken into consideration. After normalization of the relevant subjects, qualified students shall be merged into a common merit list.
  • Counselling for the final selection process is conducted at the Administrative Office of Annamalai University. The schedule will be available on the website of the institute.
  • Candidates are called for counselling according to their merit and rank. The course has to be selected during the counselling procedure.
  • Students have to pay a Counselling fee of INR 2000 (INR 500 for SC/ST candidates) by cash or DD, in favour of “The Registrar, Annamalai University” payable at the time of counselling in Chennai. This fee is non-refundable.

Program Structure

  • The total credit required to get a degree for the course is 180.

Frankly, I was weak in Mathematics so I didn't try engineering after I have got merit seat for Bsc (Hons) Agriculture in Annamalai University After joined Agriculture , Maths is the basic aspects for yield , herbicides application, related to crop aspects and also Economics is the most part of the agriculture. Economics prepares you for real world application. 6 months as for one semester. Literally easy to overcome difficult in this course.

I choose this course for my interest in agriculture. It is located in Chidambaram main. And it is 1000 acre area. Our faculty contribute nearly 40 percent of the area. lots of research farms. Commercial farm. experimental farms are there. The teaching method is a little bit bad compare to tnau. There are 2 semesters per year and 6 months per semester. A minimum of 60 percentage marks are enough for passing exams.
