As I want to go into the government sector I choose Civil engineering. In the Civil department, there is a huge shortage of faculty. There is 7 teachers for 59 students. In CGU's civil engineering department, all the teachers are well-qualified. They have their highest degree as Ph.D. degree. Their teaching techniques are well and good. Exams are according to the academic calendar and not very difficult to pass, it's pretty easy.
I am choosing Civil Engineering, because of my passion for designing and planning buildings. There are 120 seats in the Civil department. 60 for general and 60 for lateral entry. In the Civil department, there are 15 faculty are available. The qualification of teachers must be Ph.D. in Civil Engineering. In a Semester there are 3 Phases of Exams. Class Test - 30 marks. Mid Sem - 70 marks Semester - 100 marks.
The faculty members teach in the best way they can. The method of learning is the blended mode. Students number is quite higher than faculty. No placements for the civil department. Every semester has 2 exams and more than 10 - 15 tests.
I chose Civil because I was attracted to modern construction technology, the college helps in the same. Various workshops and software courses are organized for the civil Engg students for hands-on experience on software like an auto cad, staad pro, etc. The faculty is generally Mtech qualified and teaching is at par with your expectations. Most important is the teachers interact with the students. Exams were super timely. Passing the semesters is never a problem, even if you get a Back/Fail, the registration process for the Back exam is very easy.
I had chosen civil engineering as my father is a civil engineer and they suggested doing so.For every 40 students, there was a faculty appointed for them. All faculties were passed out from recognized Colleges like IITs niits and all. They had a very good experience with teaching.Exams were conducted after 6 months and internal exams conducted after 3 months and it's not difficult to pass
Term exams were conducted after every 6 months by biju Pattnaik University and technology.Internal exams are also conducted by cv Raman college after every 3 months. It was not difficult to pass from my point of view, Difficulty level was medium. All questions asked in the exam were covered in the syllabus
The thing is that the curriculum is a little different from all the colleges in Odisha, and is more practical. There is an SSEPL Training program for 3 yrs. which provides skills based on the Branch of study. Currently i am doing AutoCAD training under SSEPL. There are programs irrespective of branch, like cloud computing, Networking, Languages like Python, Java, etc. for aspiring students. The faculty and education system is one of the best reasons to choose this college. Its one of the best in India I'd say. We've had MHRD, including Mr. Prakash Javedkar and several Directors helping in developing the best study environment. Most of the Faculties are phD. Doctorates from different IITs. Student to Faculty ratio= 500:1. The classes are strictly in English so the International students don't have any difficulty. There is one huge of a library containing GATE materials, Newspapers, magazines, e-libraries. Exams are conducted online as well as offline. Marks are posted online on website.
Fee structure is highly expensive for the facilities they provide. The modes of payment are through Demand Draft,Netbanking or direct transfer to account. No feasibility for cheque. There are some additional charges like JNTU fee.First we need pay the fee and submit the slip in the accounting section after that receipt will received after some days.No such process like transparency in fee breakdown. The accounting section will be little harsh with students
The fee structure in our time was pretty good (Rs. 97500) along with Rs.15000 for bus fees and a mandatory fees of another Rs.15000 of other courses that shouldn't be mandatory. Although now the course fees after our batch have been hiked quite a bit.
