This degree focuses on the transmission of information by wired and wireless means, including via mobile phones, broadcasting and the internet.
The development of smartphones and e-commerce are just some of the factors fuelling demand for graduates in this area.
In Stages 1 and 2 you study a common syllabus, developing your expertise in electrical machines and electronic communications systems.
In Stage 3 you study specialist topics, such as:
- digital control systems and image processing

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students should have a high school degree AAB excluding General Studies.

While they are willing to consider any combination of A Level subjects (excluding General Studies), they prefer students to be studying two of the following:
- Business Studies
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Politics/Government and Politics
- History
- Geography
- Law
- Criminology
- Religious Education
- Philosophy
- English Literature/English Language
- Languages
- Economics
- Accounting/Finance
- Mathematics/Sciences (in combination with at least one of the above subjects)

GCSE Mathematics and English (minimum grade B or 6) required if not taken at A or AS Level.
Indian Eligibility:
- Typically Newcastle recognizes an 80% average in Standard XII as comparable to AAB at A-Level.
