Remarks :
The library complex at NLIU is gigantic with more books than any other library in any other national law school. Additionally the seating area for the library spans three floors and over 200 students can use the library at any time.
Course Curriculum Overview :
NLIU is one of the only two law schools in India with a trimester system. The course curriculum includes all subjects mandated by the Bar Council of India and then some more. Every year has three trimesters. Each trimester includes project submissions, mid terms and end terms on all 4 subjects.
Placement Experience :
The placements are among the best when we take into account the other law schools in India. Internships are provided by the placement committee from 3rd year onwards. I have not secured any internship through my college yet.
College Events :
There are multiple events held at NLIU. 1st September is celebrated as founder's day along with a short cultural program on the same day titled Palchin. The college also has a big sports fest Virudhaka and a cultural fest MPZero4.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure is at par with other national law schools. Total fees along with hostel comes to ?2,22,000 per year with an increase of ?5,000 every year. I would consider the fee structure reasonable, especially for hostel accommodation and mess food.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Oriental Bank of Commerce recognises NLIU as a grade A institution and as a consequence offers collateral free loans at a low interest rate for the entire duration of the course. Additionally expenses to buy a laptop are also covered.
Campus Life :
There is a huge sports complex with basketball court, badminton court, gym, football field, volleyball court, pool table, table tennis table, etc. There is also a big computer lab with seating capacity for over 50 people.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel rooms are spacious and there are four hostels, two each for men and women, respectively. The hostels are equipped with WiFi, common rooms, water coolers, etc. Every hostel has its own mess hall with food served 4 times a day.
Alumni/Alumna :
The alumni network and the senior students are very helpful and guide juniors all the time. NLIU has a culture of juniors being friends with seniors and everyone living together in a small community of barely 500 students.
Admission :
I applied for Common Law Admission Test and listed NLIU as one of my preferences. I got a rank of 396 after the exam and was allotted NLIU in the 4th list of online counseling upon payment of ?50,000. I had to then come to NLIU to submit documents and the remaining fee amount.
Faculty :
NLIU has several experienced faculty members and many new faculty members have joined recently. Most of the faculty members are helpful and have a good grasp over the subjects that they teach. Faulty members regularly attend conferences and workshops to improve their knowledge.
