Remarks :
Some of our professors are currently spoiling the pride of our college due to their poor teaching skill and knowledge. Though the primary reason of that is the sin of reservation system of our nation. We are continuously trying to repair this problem but everything is not in our hand also.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Civil engineering has a large syllabus, but it's not very tough if one has a clear concept in 10+2 level in maths and physics. Each year we have to give 2 internal exams of 30 marks and 2 semester exams of 100 marks for each subject ( other than the practical exam and Viva )
Placement Experience :
Placement scenario is really good in our college. Computer and electronics engineers have got offers above even 15 lakhs lpa in a few numbers. In civil engineering the avg lpa is about 5. As the salary in construction and structural engineering is relatively less. We all have done internships ( mostly unpaid ) during our college summer vacation in different well-known companies and those were arranged by the the solo interests of our professors.
College Events :
There are number of events, organised in our college through out the year namely srijan ( technomanagement fest ), sankskriti ( annual fest ), sports events, departmental fresher's, departmental feats, u-turn ( intra departmental sports event for freshers) etc
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fee structure of Jadavpur university is really much lesser with respect to other engineering colleges, So that talents would not be suppressed due to the lack of money. University only demands total11000 rupees for 4 years of engineering studies
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
I don't think that the fee structure of Jadavpur university is such that one needs stripend/ loan facility to continue his/ her study. I don't know any such scholarships but probably there are some, which can be easily known from Jadavpur university official site
Campus Life :
Lab facility is really well in our university. Several other authorities come to our college for different testing, there are a numbers of instruments and machineries which are only available to our college in Kolkata ( apart from IIEST shibpur). Sports facility is not that good
Alumni/Alumna :
Yes, alumni association is very helpful. In each year, they arrange their own association programme. They also arrange gold medal award for top scorer in annual departmental exams out of their own expenditure. They also contribute a lot of money in our annual fest
Admission :
By qualifying WBJEE 2016 and securing a rank of 928. Then by online counselling procedure I got admitted to B.E chemical engineering and after than I attended the spot counselling organised byu my college, through which I got admitted to B.E civil engineering
Faculty :
Jadavpur university has a very good faculty in civil engineering department. Most of our teachers has completed their b.e degree from Jadavpur and IIEST shibpur, and have done their post graduation and PhD from IIT Kharagpur. They are also employed to different construction consultancy services all across India
