Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum is not much based on clinical practice. It is more theory oriented. That reduces the clinical skill of the students. The university exam is little bit difficult compared to other universities. Frequency of sessional exams is satisfactory

Internships Opportunities

3

There is no company based internship in the college. But it is compulsory for every student to do housesurgency 1 year inthe hospital .For that they will get a stipend of 25000 rs per month. It's mandatory to do that in the same college where we studied and not in other institutions.

Fees and Financial Aid

23000 is the tution fee per annum.we have to pay this for four years of the course. Scholar ships are available based on caste ,religion and income like e grants scholarship. There is no tution fee for sc st category

Campus Life

4

The college celebrates special festivals like Christmas, onam ,holi etc under the guidance of college union. There will be interbatch sports and arts competition every year and intercollege competitions occassionally

Hostel Facilities

3

The hostel has a rent of 500 rs per month. The room is built like it can accomodate 3 persons. The room has good ventilation ,good lighting . The furnitures in the room is adequate. There is only 1 fan in each room which is defect .It is difficult to get sufficient air in room during summer season using 1 fan

Admission

I preferred two other colleges over this but my marks in the eligibility exam was enough only to get admission in this college. But I don't regret getting here . The college takes students based on the marks obtained in National eligibility cum entrance test.

Faculty

3

There is little faculty shortage in some clinical subjects like obstetrics and gynaecology.but the department is managing the issue well. Every department conduct 3 sessional exams and university conduct 1 exam for each subject.

Night Life

3

There is no time restriction for both girls and boys hostel and there is 24 hour open central library in the campus. But there is no 24 hour open cafeteria inside the campus which is an inevitable thing

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course not due to the curriculum..i qlways dreamed of becoming a good doctor. The level.of satisfaction you get in this profession wont be anywhere else. The modernization of curriculum has stressed on the clinical aspects which i think is the core of medicine. We have been taken to bedside and taught to examine patients diagnose the case and interpret imaging. Also the skill lab clears the obstruction we face in a real life like we are being trained in BLS and ALS. Our junior batches are also taken to trivandrum medical college to see autopsy which in fact is a real opportunity. The course could improve in a way that apart from academics it must give importance to sports arts also which is not promoted in our college. Also revisions classes can be made effects by conducting small test papers chapter wise instead of taking chapters on repetition. Exams are almost done in an effective way. The course is actually very difficult compared to others. So much effort has to be put in from both students and Teacher's side.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose MBBS as it has been one of my dreams since my childhood and it's my parent's dream more than mine. Faculties teaching in the First year min qualification is a master of science in the particular subject and from the second year onwards the minimum qualification is MBBS for every faculty. Three exams per year and you have to pass any one exam to write in university exam and it's somewhat difficult to pass if you start studying at last

Remarks:

The hostel and college infrastructure are a little poor compared to other colleges but it is expected with the minimal fees given. There are a lot of festivals and programs and a healthy political atmosphere. The non violent conflicts between the two opposing parties lead to good development in the college.
