Remarks :
Less experimentation, learning opportunities are limited unless you are the one to take initiatives and participative. Most programs towards development of students fall flat on face. Fees and Placement are only USPs of this college.
Course Curriculum Overview :
In my opinion there are many subjects which are of no use to us, curriculum should be more condensed. Theoretical aspect is more focused throughout the course, there is need to shift towards case based curriculum. Communication and presentation skills matter the most in Placement and hence these should be seriously taken care of.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, strictly talking about my batch, there were ample opportunities for summer internships. Companies visited college campus for hiring for internship. Stipends were in the range of 5 k to 25 k. Few got no stipend, but most of the students got hired on campus and were paid stipend for internship.
Placement Experience :
Placements are decent with respect to the investment you are putting in. If you do well and keep a positive attitude with a good communication skills, you can easily find a well paying job with ctc of 6 - 10 lakh. Most students lie in 5- 7 lac bracket.
College Events :
Various events keep happening as usual , there are various cells in the college, which organize various events , Such as E day event to promote entrepreneurial skills, Alumini meet to keep in touch with Aluminis , Dhruv a cultural event. Sports league such as Futsul, PPL dot the yearly calender. Apart from that if you are outgoing and enthusiastic there are many events in other Mba colleges where one can participate and explore.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Very feasible. Cheapest of all MBA colleges except FMS only. For Students outside Maharashtra the fees is 65 k for a year and for Maharashtra residents, Government scholarship is given. I don't think I need to comment on the fees for reserved category students, it's like pennies. Hostel in university is dirt cheap, but very limited number of seats.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tution fees is already very less and for reserved category students the fees is close to nil, Students from the state also get scholarship from Maharashtra govt , which reduces their fees to half. Hostels provided in the university are very affordable.
Campus Life :
There are many opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities like in Management events , Debate shows, sports events, cultural events. For readers , the Library is well equipped with books from all subjects and fields. To showcase entrepreneurial skills their is an E day.
Hostel Facilities :
10 to 20 seats only for hostel. There is tough competition to obtain hostel. Hostel is dirt cheap, but one has to compromise on certain comforts to stay at hostel, such as less space, congestion etc , their are merits like enjoying the beautiful University area and facilities of University.
Alumni/Alumna :
The college has huge Alumni working at prestigious positions across industries, but they are not tapped, However Alumni cell strive to get as many of them onboard. Still a lot of work is to be done.
Exam Structure :
It is a trimester pattern. Three trimesters a year. There will be 6 to 8 subjects every trimester. Each subject will either be of full credit or half credit. In first two trimesters there are common subjects for all specializations after that one has to chose two specialisations a major and a minor and hence there will be subjects and courses distributed accordingly.
Admission :
I got 99.74 percentile on Cmat. Basically you have to appear for exams like CET, CMAT, MAT, ATMA. Mor Maharashtrian CET is must and more outsiders any of the mentioned exams will do. The cut off percentile is very high. There is no interview and is strictly based on merit. The process is conducted by DTE , one has to keep track of notification regarding mba admission on Maharashtra DTE and then follow the guidelines.
Faculty :
Faculty is good, many professors are visiting ones. However to extract most , you have to be constantly invested which is not very easy. The kind of ecosystem built in PUMBA is that you will not feel very motivated to pursue excellence , Teaching methodology certainly needs improvements, to catch up to the current industry practice. Due to this the student by the end of his course is not prepared and likely to struggle. However, if he simultaneously do parallel courses , certifications, and work on presentation skills, there are certainly ways forward. Industry visits are very rare however experts from Industry keep coming to campus , but then participation from students is very mild.
