My college - ANDC

Remarks :

I liked the way my college put in efforts to make sure academically we were par as per the knowledge standards of other colleges in DU. There were a lot of plus points which include the infrastructure which was being improved the time i was present there.

Course Curriculum Overview :

B.Sc(H) Comp Science is a 3 year course which is done semester wise. In every semester there used to be 4 subjects out of which 3 were core computer subjects and 1 was either Maths/English. Exams were conducted after every semester and the on the basis of passing criteria (60 out of 100) in both internal and external, the candidates were cleared in that particular semester.

Placement Experience :

Good companies come in for placement opportunities (eg Libsys, Nagarro etc). There was a seperate placement committee who used to guide and help regarding the entire process for placements. There were ample number of opportunities for my course but as i wanted to pursue higher studies, i went ahead for masters.

College Events :

There was a Drama committee named Dhwani and a fest used to be organized just like in every other DU college. There used to be departmental fests as well in the college. Entire college used to come together to celebrate the event.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

My course was the most expensive among all courses in DU. I guess because it involved more use of technical assets than any other course. Usually the semester fees for any course in DU is around 6000-8000 INR. For my course, Bsc(H) Comp Sc it was around 24000INR.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

College used to offer scholarships to students who had the highest marks in XII but were unable to afford the same. I am not sure of the details as i did not avail the same but i know about this facility which my college offered.

Campus Life :

We had 4 labs for computer science course, 2 labs for electronics. They were very well furnished with all the safety equipment along with the tools and apparatus required in both the labs. There were lab technicians present to assist for any issues that might come up while operating these tools and assets. College used to organize various sports events with other colleges. This included badminton, disk throw , cricket and football.

Hostel Facilities :

I did not opt for any hostel , nor was there any facility provided by the college for hostel services. Would have been good experience but it was not available in my college. So this question is invalid for me.

Alumni/Alumna :

yes the senior students and the alumni were very helpful throughout the duration of our course. We used to have regular interactions with them and discuss the issues that we were facing for any type of queries be it academic or otherwise.

Admission :

ANDC is a college which falls under south campus under Delhi University. I got admission via the merit list on the basis of marks scored in XII. I got my name listed in first merit list, went to college and had a casual interview with the vice principal. After this i got the admission letter for my course

Faculty :

Faculty was quite knowledgeable and they were aware of the things that were required to be taught to us. This was more of a academic oriented college in DU and had started a bit into co curricular activities during the time i was doing my graduation

Course Curriculum Overview:

I always excelled in mathematics in school. So, i decided to pursue it for higher studies. You should only choose this course if you want to make a career in mathematics field for example if you want to become a mathematics professor, go into research, become a data scientist or clear exams like JAM, NET, JRF. They do teach softwares like R which is very important but they should include more technologies and coding languages into the course as well. Special mention: if you want to pursue a career in data science i wouldn't recommend this course. I think a computer major would be more helpful.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was always interested in studying chemistry since school so I opted for this course. The course is well built and designed in order to build your interest in this field. The college provides enough industrial visits to encourage you in the same field and organises sufficient conferences regarding the same. There are no such improvements required in the faculty except a few. Exams used to happen semester wise after every 5 months. We only used to prepare for these, only a few teachers asked us to solve an assignment and nothing much.

Placement Experience:

Last semester students are eligible for the campus placements. Although this college offers placement but not a surety for the same. The average package is 5 lacs andthe highest is 23 lacs as of till now. After graduation you may give the entrance exams to get admission for the masters degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

In my opinion my course syllabus is good and better then some of the other courses. This course helps and prepares students for the real world application as it is a practical course and have all the industrial related topics in it. In my opinion the college should offer more industrial vists for the students. The difficulty level of exams is Average.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I gave Entrance and I qualified and I have no option other than this course. Our Faculty is a mixture, as we have to study Physics Chemistry and Mathematics so we have three 3 departments. Student teacher ratio is 10:1. All teachers are PhD Professor. they wrote many books also, their teaching is according to UGC syllabus. they provide notes. There is Semester exam after 6 months and one test in one month of each subject. You have to prepare your notes in a very well way to obtain good marks.
