What Students Say
Likes
- The college is located in a good location which was very much accessible to me via Indian railways. being a government college it allowed me to make a railway student pass which cost around 150 Rs for 3 months. It is also accessible via metro and Bus
- The college canteen was very good during my batch. The food was very tasty and healthy prepared with hygiene kept in mind. Also the prices were very reasonable. Chilli potato, aaloo naan, aaloo puri, chole bhature were some of the best items.
- Gardening is my hobby and the college is also very fond of it. It takes part in Delhi University's annual gardening competition in which it wins many prizes. My team won first and third prize in consecutive years. The gardening staff is very helpful
Dislikes
- The college campus is very small. It did not have sports ground also due to which they do not organise big events. student parking is not allowed inside the college. Small placement drive(can experienc) and college fest is conducted unworthy to join.
- Teachers look experienced and knowledgeable but they wont help or tell you things by their own. Student should go and ask them out about things, like what should they do apart from college studies. Being govt. organisation teachers do not bother much
- My social life at college was very bad as I sticked to my friend group of 10 students. Students should reach out to all students of their class and also try to interact with seniors as they wont come to you on their own. Also take part in club events
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum did not influnced my decision to choose this course as bcom is a basic course after Commerce in 12th class. Curriculum of this course and college is good as it comes under Delhi University. You have to do things on your own and work hard to understand things if you really want to make something out of it. Apart from college studies , you shoul also do some professional courses like digital marketing, data analysis, advanced excel etc. Also you should do internships to get hands on experience. For improvements in the course, practical learning and internships should also be included in the course. Exams are taken on semster basis in May-June and November-December. Difficulty level is moderate. You can manage exams based on past 10 years papers.
Placement Experience
My college did not provided much Placement assistance. It do hold placement drive but it not much worthy. Students should look for out campus placements or should apply in other colleges of DU if they are allowed to do so. Talking about the employability, One should learn the concepts well taught in the course and do internships after which they can get jobs in market easily.
Fees and Financial Aid
1st year fee (total course fee) - 10,000rs + some examination fee (250 - 500 rs) 2nd year fee ( total course feee) - 9995 rs ( no exam fee) (NO security fee was there as such) I took migration Delhi University in 2024. It cost 500rs for the application of migration.
Campus Life
College organises freshers party, annual college fest and some other functions around the year. Freshers is a good one to particpate. Books are readily available in the college library and if not one can easily reach out to Nai sadak market or Daryagang market which is near to the college. Classrooms have projectors Sports were not there for all the students but those who were admitted through sports quota get decent facilities. NCC and NSS were available in the college. Commerce society is there for the commerce students. But it is not actiive very much. Still you will get a decent exposure in that.
Admission
During my time the admissions were based on the merit list issued by Delhi University. The list was prepared according to the marks obtained in best four subjects of 12th standard. But now the process is changed as now DU accepts CUET exam. I got listed in Sri Aurobindo, Zkir Husain Delhi College and Dayal singh college. I left Sri Aurobindo because it was too far from Faridabad and poor infrastructure. I left Dayal singh college because I had taken admission in Zakir Husain and made ffriends there. But you should not do that. Choose Dayal singh over Zakir Husain College.
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is very as there is 1 teacher on 100+ students. Faculty to student relationship is good in class room. Teachers are interactive. Teachers are not very approachable outside the class. Sufiya maam, Shazia maam, AW Faruqi sir, Shruti maam, Swati maam, are some of the good teachers as they teach you well, they are expert in their subjects. Rizawan sir, Computer lab maam, and Income tax sir are not good as they do not teach well. They try to do minimal work so that student get pass. There are 4 subjects in each semester.Exam level is not very high. Students generally purchase 10 year books and pass exams easily with their help.
Night Life
Nightlife is very bad around college. It is not very safe for girls to roam around as it is a deserted area around college. There are no hostels and gym in the college. Cafeteria was good at my time in 2018 but now it is very bad. Nearby places to hang out are Cannought Place, Red fort, jama masjid, daryaganj market, Rajghat, Jantar Mantar, Janpath market.
Other Applied Colleges
