College of Vocational Studies: A Missed Opportunity

Dislikes

  • Admin office is really really very bad .Admin staff is very rude in behaviour. They have a tendency to give exam form only a day before exam & many times they have lost exam form of students
  • There is water problem in entire college, water taps do not work , water cooler is most of the time broken

Course Curriculum Overview :

*The reason why I chose History hons. Was because of the vast curriculum it offers me that are Indian history from prehistoric era to Indian independence, history of Europe, History of USSR, History of Japan , History of United States of America, History of Africa and History of Latin America *History curriculum in bachelor's prepares us for further studies in Master's and PhD , UPSC and NET -JRF *History Exams are taken semester wise two times a year .They are moderate neither too easy nor too hard

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

*This year (2024)fees increased to ?13095 * Breakup of fees is not mentioned anywhere except ? 800 as Admission fees * Every Honors & Vocational course has fees - ?12830 , except for following two courses that are - BSC ( hons.) Computer science: ?45006 BA (hons.) Business Economic s : ?27660

Campus Life :

*Various Delhi University colleges organise their annual fests like Hindu college organises The Mecca but my college, College of Vocational Studies is not organic it's annual fest for few years * Our college library has a variety of books and journals with Fully air-conditioned * Our college is divided into , Old Building & New building.classes in old building are compact and had broken fans and lights but New building classes are larger and had better infrastructure

Admission :

*Admission process of every Delhi University college is through CUET exam held after 12th board examination *CUET is a computer based test held by NTA in MCQ format every Delhi University course has certain eligibility.once we give CUET exam the results are declared in two months then students get CUET score out of 800 they then apply it on Delhi University admission dashboard, upload their CUET score , 10th marksheet, 12th Marksheet and other documents for verification *They then ask you to rank colleges according to different courses like 1. Hindu college (History) 2. Kirorimal college (History) 3. Ramjas college ( History) *After switching to CUET does not release cutoffs . Now they release first admission list , second admission list and at last special round

Faculty :

Faculty members depend on the courses , commerce department has the highest faculty members and my faculty , history honours has 15 members According to me I like my faculty, history honours the most as professors are generous, kind hearted and respond to feedbacks The faculty I dislike the most is English department, as they are rude and arrogant and in one SEC subject , Business Communication they failed everyone There are 2 semester exams in a year . They are moderate , neither too easy not too hard . In History hons exam semester exam is of 90Marks . Question paper contains 8Questions out of which you can attempt any 4 Questions in Hindi or English but have to write complete exam in one medium only. Exam can be passed easily as most of the questions comes from Previous years hardly Delhi University changes exam pattern. Most of the students pass but some do fail in 2-3 subjects which they had to clear in their next to next semester

Course Curriculum Overview:

The IGNOU course curriculum is comprehensive and relevant, especially for distance and open learning. Studying with IGNOU course can help in clearing your basics as well as detailed understanding of the topics. It is useful in preperation of government exams as well. The exams are conducted each year or every 6 months for different types of courses so the time to study and prepare is enough.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like my course because from the beginning I had to study Political Science under Bachelor of Arts. Also, this course is taught very well in the college but if some changes are made in it like language and selection of the right professor then it will be even better. Also, the exams in the college are held on time but the difficulty level is also different.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is good, the knowledge we are getting is useful and informative. Yes the curriculum prepares us for the real world applications or furthee academic pursuits. The frequency and timing of exams along with my perspective is normal and we can attend all questions in the given time.

Remarks:

The environment of the college speaks for itself. The student body is one of its kind and the college management is satisfactory.

Admission:

The cut offs are generated after you have registered with DU. The process is a smooth process and less time consuming. Once your documents are verified you will be admitted to the college on that day itself. There is a gap of 45 days from the registration date to the date when the first cut off is released.

Placement Experience:

The job placements are very good at our College. Alumni batch of the college provides seminars for students every year in order to make children understand that why marks are less important than Knowledge. The exposure they provide to children so that they earn knowledge.

Remarks:

Our college had good staff members and very friendly and helpful alumni. the only exception is hostel facility due to which students have to struggle outside with cheap quality of food and residence. otherwise, everything is proper and suitable.
