  • Not a Coeducational the number of girls are low because it’s primarily known as a boys college, the girls usually can and have the option to join Viscom,Zoology etc and that too they can’t opt for shift 2 in some of these courses.
  • Old syllabus the college provides you with a old syllabus that is not updated.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course is a great and a valuable course, economics is valued all over the world. It can build a person's life, the course offers you with various opportunities and experiences. The only problem is the syllabus and the lack of maths based curriculum in the course. The faculties also are not specialised in maths, meaning one has to self study for his extra knowledge so that he can keep up to the level of other colleges.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The semester fees is 20,000 rs, and we in a year we have 2 semesters. So it comes around 40,000 rupees. The college also provides us with LSS (Loyola Support service) where they give scholarships to people in need and they also help people in their personal lives by giving out donations as well. And for people from reservation there are allocated seats and special classes for them to attend so that they can improve themselves.

Campus Life :

The annual cultural "Ovation" takes place it is one the biggest college event conducted in chennai, you can witness famous actors, politicians and sports personalities coming to the event. The college has a lot of smart rooms and conference halls. And the Library is one of the oldest in the city, where there's a book which dates back to 1800's. The college has 3+ grounds which are very huge and almost all sports can be played. The college offers club activities and participation in the 1 year itself where people can join Enactus, Rotaract, Health and wellness, Quiz & Debate etc.

Admission :

The admission process was easy, I got in through credit score, meaning I paid no donation of any kind. They asked for the basic details and 10th and 12th marks for admission, nothing extra. I personally applied to SNU delhi and Chennai, where I got both (Bcom) and also I applied for MCC also where I got the Econ program. I settled for Loyola because of what the brand value was, people around me used to praise It like nothing and also it is considered the best college in chennai. So being a young student i went on to join this college.

Faculty :

The faculty's are very approachable and great to talk to, but they don't have the skills to teach the current syllabus, as most of them in my department dont have a degree in maths, which is needed for economics. Which can also be seen in the syllabus. The marking system is average it is just like the school system where they don't give you marks on the basis of content but pages you write.

Placement Experience:

From the last semester, the eligibility of students for campus placements was followed. I'm in the last year of my degree and still, I am not in the process of campus placements. Each time the companies came with the same package wanted students were informed. 90% of the students will get placements. I have a plan to study MBA, if possible.

Placement Experience:

Students get eligible from fifth semester for campus interview, interested students need to fill up some criteria to apply for Campus Interview. Leading world and National companies like Google, Adidas, Aaj Tak, etc. have their selections. Salary Package for the same depends up on the company norms.

Remarks:

My experience at the Madras University Distance Learning has been satisfying. I recommend the University if one wants to continue studying without leaving their home town for personal reasons. However, there might be a certain inconvenience when it comes to contacting the University by calling as there might be some problems in the administration and management. Nonetheless, it is worth being a student here.

Admission:

It is merit-based and works on first come first serve criteria. I fit the criteria by completing 10+2 with results above 85% which might have increased my possibility of getting selected. I also applied right when the online processes started.
