- The faculty is amazing , well experienced teachers , amazing sessions , juice corner and shakes . Very famous chole kulche wala , even passouts students come to eat them . Library is well disciplined , reading room for studied , girls common room .
- Various departments are available especially i like geography department , teachers are incredible they also dictate notes in each classes makimg it easier for students to understand them .
Dislikes
- There needs some improvement in infrastructure such as canteen , there are not enough benches and ventilations issue . Classrooms need a little renovation , especially in terms of fans , as the class consist of average 100 students at a time
- The naac grade has decreased to B and something is needed to improve it including infrastructure and other facilities .
Course Curriculum Overview :
My course ba is excellent , i have taken geography , polity and economics and all the course content is relevant for my preparation of civil services examination . As i am in 1st semester physical geography is in my course and its very interesting . Thats why i chose these subjects so that they can help me in competitive exams too . As the 1st year mst have been cancelled the final exams would take place in november end as i have read previous year questions the paper level is wasy to moderate not difficult
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Hi , as i got admission I was required to pay about rupees 12,500 . And then after sometime 250 for exam fees . Firstly i was confused that my friend payed only 10000 at the time of admission and i payed more than her , what's the reason? But while paying exam fees she paid 1300 then i got to know that it depends on subjects as well . And about scholarship , various scholarships are available for almost every section - general , sc ,st , north east students , himachal students , etc and for general the maximum income should be 4,50,000 , an affidavit or salary slip is required for it . And the scholarship form is available on nsp portal
Campus Life :
There are various fests organised as this college comes under panjab university . Therefore we can participate in pu fests too. Almost all the books are available in library in an organised manner and also one can browse in computer available there to find books easily and teachers are also there to help you find books . Proper silence is maintained.sports ground is too big , various club are there , dramatic club , best out of waste society , women empowerent , etc
Admission :
I applied for 4 government colleges at chandigarh and by gods grace i got admission in all of them but i chose this one based on my browing and survey that it is the best college in chandigarh to pursue ba . I also applied in sec 11 girls college and sec 42 , 46 . But i preferred this one . The admissiom process is totally online and fee payment too . There is no need to visit college for admission . For outside chandigarh students percentage should be more than 90.
Faculty :
Faculty to student ratio is good. Teachers are very supportive , provide notes , even friendlier with us . There is a little difficulty in approaching teachers of departments such as philosophy otherwise all other departments are good . As my session started in end of july and in this year 2024 NEP has been applied therefore mst exams are not being conducted for first year students . Final 1st semester exams are in november end . There are 2 marks questions and 18 marks - 4 questions which we have to attend in 5-6 pages . 75% attendance is necessary to appear in exams and is available for students to see their attendance every month. The course curriculum is also relevant . Side by side u can also prepare for competitive exams as the syllabus coincides with them . Geography department has the best faculty and in my opinion philosphy department needs more attention and faculty .
