Course Curriculum Overview
Since I was from the commerce stream the most common and preferable course is B.com. The course focuses on management, leadership, finance, and taxation which helps one to excellence in almost all the fields whether it be top management positions or becoming an advocate or chartered accountant. The course has fewer complications of computer technology in it which is said to be the future. The exams will be held after 6 months and are moderate in difficulty level.
Internships Opportunities
A number of internship opportunities are available for students in the fields of finance, accounting, taxation, management, leadership, etc. Companies such as EY, KPMG, Deloitte, PWC, and Trident visit for recruitment and offer packages from 3 lakhs per annum to 12 lakhs per annum in the business development associate field.
Placement Experience
Students from 5th semester are eligible for placements. There are many big names such as Deloitte, KPMG, EY and Trident visit for recruitment and they offer decent packages for freshers ranging from the highest to 12 lakhs per annum and average package around 3 lakhs per annum. Almost 90% students got placed. I have a plan to pursue Company Secretary course after my graduation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The entire course is a 3-year course which is divided into 6 semesters of half a year each. The fee for each semester is 12500, apart from this at the time of admission an admission fee of 12000 is required to be paid. The fees is the same for all categories, however, students scoring well in academics and are from economically backward classes are eligible to get a scholarship of 80% on tution fees.
Campus Life
The college has 2 festivals named Yuvotsava and Talenthunt one comes around August and the other comes around February. All types of books from knowledgeable fantasy books to magazines and even newspapers are available in the library and all are updated. Technology provision in classrooms is highly advanced and classes offer projectors to teach. The college has the best record in marathons and has a big playground wherein students can play football, cricket and other sports. College offers Leo club and other clubs which improve the personality of students
Admission
I have applied for SD College, however, due to a shortage of marks, I am not able to make it there. However, got placed in the second-best college in the Tricity. For admission one needs to fill out an application form from Punjab University and through this based on one's score in his higher secondary. The cutoff for my college was 88%. My overall admission experience was very smooth.
Faculty
The faculty-to-student ratio is 1:10. The faculties are good and are easily approachable even after college times. The best faculties are is Ms. Kriti Mahajan, she teaches us Philosophy and is really friendly and lovable among students. There is no such faculty who is not likable by any student. There are 6 semester , each semedter has 7 subjects and they are not that difficult; one having good overview of the subject can easily pass. There are only about 5% students who are not able to clear the exams. The course curriculum is really important for growth and introduction to overall commerce world.
