Entrance Preview :

IIJNM has an internal examination, which they conduct online and the potential students can take that examination from any location. I had opted for this college on recommendation of my uncle and a former English professor. He had narrated to me how some of his students had excelled from this institute.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is one of the best. They offer specialisation courses in Print (newspaper and magazine), Broadcast (TV and radio) and New Media journalism. New Media is the future of journalism, and the most profitable one as well. So students can chose from these three main sections, apart from selecting varied subjects like Business, Developmental, Sports, Investigative journalism.

Internships Opportunities :

No it does not. Instead, the college offers placements in various media houses, ranging from print to broadcast to new media. In my case, when I got a job from the college, I was the second-highest paid student.

College Events :

Orientation programme is a lot of fun, where media experts come every year and welcomes the students, instilling in them the vibrant courage and energy that would help a journalist in the making. Onam is a small celebration here, but Diwali is a lot of fun. The college will even buy legal firecrackers for students and the whole evening is a party.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

For print PG diploma course fee for one year is 3.2 lac rupees, for broadcast it is 3.8 lac and for new media it is also 3.8 lac rupees.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

I am not sure about scholarship programmed, as there was none in our batch. However, loan facility is available, but its best when students arrange their own loans. Otherwise, college would also be ready to help with all paper works.

Campus Life :

Gender ratio is dominated by girls. I would say 2:1 in favour of girls and that is a very good thing for India. Extra curricular activities are not fixed, but students are free to engage in what they want and can ask for help from college for that., It has a basketball court, where we played cricket and football also.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel is one of the cleanest and food is prepared with hygiene in mind. Hostel rooms are shared by 5 students, but these are large rooms with enough ventilation and clean. There are two attached toilets in each room. Food is prepared by hired residential cooks, usually 3-4 of them, and they even serve non veg food 3 days a week.

External Expense : Rs.2000 - Rs.4000

Alumni/Alumna :

Alumni network is brilliantly managed. We have a social networking page and also email chains, detailing new job openings and other relevant information. The network is very helpful, where each alumni responds to queries and also provides information on job openings in their companies.

A practical, interactive and enlightening course about Journalism

Course Curriculum Overview:

Journalists are the harbingers of truth to the general public. I chose NSOJ because they were a reputed and dedicated institute when it came to teaching Journalism. There were many experienced teachers and they taught in a novel and holistic manner. The student: teacher ratio was around 15:8 so the learning process was very personalized. The exam schedule was very well balanced and the means of assessment was based on the practical and ideological aspects of the subject. It was easy to pass as the learning process was concrete and streamlined.

Best place for aspiring journalists

Course Curriculum Overview:

Faculties are vastly experienced and come from relevant work experience. They have worked in renowned media houses across the country. They tutor and guide you in all aspects. We had three projects to do, one in Print, Broadcast and Multimedia journalism. There will be a final exam at the end of the course. Subjects include Writing, Reporting, Editing, Current Affairs, and Journalism Ethics.
