There are assured placements after the end of the course. I am still in my first year so I wouldn't be the best person to be able to answer this question as I haven't undergone the process myself. But I have seen our pg batch given month long internships after the end of their term. After the internship is over they may or may not be hired by the same news house or company
IIJNM has an internal examination, which they conduct online and the potential students can take that examination from any location. I had opted for this college on recommendation of my uncle and a former English professor. He had narrated to me how some of his students had excelled from this institute.
IIJNM is India's best Journalism college. They are autonomous and widely famous for their placements. The conduct an online written test, which includes subjects like English, General Knowledge-Current Affairs and Aptitude. Along with this candidates need to write two essays - one a statement of purpose and other related to any current affair topic, point of view, critical review. Once we pass this a face to face interview or Skype interview is conducted and henceforth the selection is done.
The college is overall a good experience. I think the fee structure can be relaxed to some extent. Otherwise, one can opt for this college any day.
