Remarks :

The college provides a good environment to learn and have fun. The academics, practicals, assignments, festivals and events, everything is aimed at giving a holistic growing experience to the student.

Entrance Preview :

I took the Common Entrance Test (CET) for Bachelors in Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC) offered by GGSIP University. I got an All India Rank of 35. As per my research, VIPS was the best college in GGSIP University for BJMC and my seniors had already been studying there and they had given me good views of the college.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is informative and engaging for the students. All aspects of the industry are given due consideration.. Journalism and Mass Communication are very broad fields which include subjects like advertising, public relations, media research, television broadcasting, radio, print media industry, photography, etc. All of the subjects are taken very seriously and with the help of assignments they make the learning process all the more interactive.

Internships Opportunities :

At the end of the first year of college, it is mandatory for the student to do an internship in print media, for which a report has to be made and their experience is assessed. I interned with the newspaper 'The Hindu'.At the end of second year, it is mandatory for the student to do an internship in either television industry, public relations, advertising or radio, depending on their interests. I interned with the news channel 'Times Now' in Mumbai and had a good experience. The college provides with a letter of recommendation for the internship and the student has to find the internship themselves, since the college requires us to learn to market ourselves and become industry ready products. However, in case a student is unable to procure an internship, the college helps the student with that.

Placement Experience :

The college has companies coming up for placements. Companies from the television industry, advertising industry, event management industry. However, to be honest, it is not advisable to go up for a job right after the bachelors. Most of my seniors went on to do their post graduation from prestigious colleges and secured positions into good companies.

College Events :

The BJMC final year batch organizes the college's 3 day mega media cultural festival called Spandan every year. It is actually an event management practical exam and the students are graded according to their contributions and performance. It witnessed anchor Rannvijay Singh of MTV Roadies fame in 2013, Sunburn Campus with DJ Sartek in 2014, the sufi group Nizami Bandhu of the Kun Faaya Kun fame in 2015, and this year's artists are yet to be finalised. The college also witnesses fests from different courses which include Gravity, organised by the BA.LLB Students, V Connect, organised by the BCA students. There are also other small events that keep happening all around the year, like the Art Fiesta, organised by the art society Sarvasutra. The Art Fiesta was Delhi's biggest college art festival in 2015 with over 3500 students participating from colleges across Delhi.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is expensive as compared to Delhi University, however, with the amount of practical learning, it is all worth it. As per the guidelines of GGSIP University, the student needs to pay as follows: Admission Fee to GGSIP University: INR 40,000 First Year Fee to college: INR 63,8000. Second Year Fee to college: INR 63,8000. Third Year Fee to college: INR 63,8000

Campus Life :

Campus life is really good. The gender ratio is quite leveled, with girls and boys seen all over the campus. The students come from various parts of the country and get along well with each other. Freshers' and farewell parties are organised each year with involvement from all students.

Hostel Facilities :

There are no hostels in the college. The food in the canteen is clean and reasonable. It tastes good and the canteen has been really well maintained.

Alumni/Alumna :

It all depends on the relations one has shared with the seniors. It has been good overall.

Exam Structure :

The exam structure is pretty subtle. Internal assessment happens once every mid semester, and there is an external assessment at the end of every semester. Before the external examinations, there is a practical examination for the practical subjects. Examinations don't really burden.

Faculty :

The college faculty is very helpful at every step, they involve in all forms of learning methods including lecture methods, group discussions in class, presentations. They even ask the students to deliver presentations on particular topics so as to give a holistic learning approach and make the students presentable and ready to be a part of the industry.

Entrance Preview:

There was no entrance exam and admissions were taken on the basis of the percentage acquired in 12th class. I chose the course because i did not make it to NIFT Delhi which was my first option but this being the second option to reach to masses, i joined this course.

Admission:

This is the only procedure for admission. The centralised Delhi University form that comes somewhere near April is the form that needs to be filled for this. When the cutoffs are out in June/July, we need to take all the required documents to the college.

The college topped in all aspects in providing the mass communication students the studio and equipment facilities. One thing that always touched my heart was the facilities for the PWD/blind students. The college infrastructure makes sure they are comfortable and self-reliant all the time.

Somewhere college management was not up to date. They charged fine if any student is not completing their 75% attendance for exam Hall ticket. So I hated this system and even now I don't support this corrupt way.
