Remarks :
Our college management doesn't make any direct talk to students, they assigned a faculty of each department as class coordinator,who convey the messages of students to management.
Entrance Preview :
I opt for this college because i have heard about the teachers of this college that they are excellent in their job. The placement of this college is also good but not great. An engineering must do some research work during his under graduation days this college encourage its students in doing that.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course curriculum followed by every college under Makaut is same as given by Makaut. The syllabus covers almost all the subjects essential in every branch of engineering but the organisation of subjects haven't been done properly semester wise, there are few unnecessary subjects which should not be there like value and ethics or economics.
Internships Opportunities :
No, our college doesn't provide huge opportunities for internships but i have seen few students getting internship opportunities in Intel, the stipend of it was around 20 thousands monthly.
Placement Experience :
The placement of our college was great until 2016 when we have taken admission almost 70% students where placed from ECE, CSE, IT but then due to slow down in recruiting process by mass recuiters,the placement of our college have declined but still 40-50% students are placed in our college.
College Events :
In this field our college is doing great, we have many events occurring in our college throughout the year. We have a fresher's welcome know as 'Footprints' which is organised every year in some big auditorium of Kolkata, then we also have a great cultural fest. The Machaut fest of our college know as 'Paridhi' is one of the most renowned fest in eastern India.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Almost all college have similar fee structure in makaut. The total college fee for us is 3.80 lacs which we have give semester wise. For first semester the fee was 80,000 including admission fee, in the second semester we have given 60,000 and then 40,000 for the rest semesters. It's not that much expensive compared to other colleges in India.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
According to rule of Makaut, our college provide tuition fee waiver to 5% of it's total students from economically weak background and our also provide another scholarship known as WBFS in which either half or full tuition fee is waived.
Campus Life :
Campus life of our college students is only restricted to indoor activities, we don't have many outdoor extracurricular activities. Robotics competition is organised twice in year, first in odd semester for first year students of our college and then in even semester in inter college technical fest. Annual cricket and football intra-college competition are organised.
Hostel Facilities :
Our college doesn't have a hostel of its own. But, we have many private hostels surrounding our college for the students of our college, as the hostels are private so the food is good, as students have many other options for hostels around them so due to competition among the hostels, each and every one of them try to provide best services to students.
Alumni/Alumna :
We have facebook group,in which pass out and current students can communicate with each other, except this we don't have any separate alumni network.
Exam Structure :
Since our college is under Makaut, it follows the exam pattern decided by Makaut. We have 8 semesters exam in 4 years of under graduation, 16 internal assessment exams two in each semester. In every semester, we have practical exam conducted before the theory papers.
Admission :
At first a candidate have to give an entrance exam, either Jee mains or wbjee. 90% of seats are for admission for students who comes through wbjee exam and rest are taken from jee main.After the results of the both jee main and wbjee are declared, there will be a centeralized online counselling for eligible students. In this counselling the students need to fill the choices of college, and then result of counseling will be declared, if the student's rank fall in the cutt off rank then a seat is going to be allocated to him after which he/she have to report to the a counselling centre for documents verification and then to the allocated college for taking admission.
Faculty :
The faculties of our are well qualified, many of them are PhD holders and few are pursuing their PhD. They're regular in taking their respective classes, we also have an online feedback system for faculties in which students rate their faculties. Yes, there are few faculties who are not that good in teaching but they exist in every college.
