A Good and relishable experience in college

Remarks :

The college authorities were very strict in enforcing attendance rules. If one student did not have adequate attendance, he was not given library NOC which was made compulsory if one wanted the admit card issued

Entrance Preview :

This college is a part and parcel of the vijaya group of institutions in South Bangalore. This college offers Basic Pre-university Education, degree courses and post-graduate management and legal education. The admission process was quite simple as it involved a merit-list cum interview procedure

Course Curriculum Overview :

The B.com course curriculum consisted of three years of commerce education. In the first year, we were introduced to basic principles of commerce and management, business law, commerce and accountancy. In the second year, there was a detailed course on corporate law and secretarial practice and introduction to direct taxes. In the third year, we were introduced to advanced direct and indirect tax, corporate accounts and advanced corporate laws and secretarial practice

Internships Opportunities :

Actually, when I passed out of college, there was not in existence any process of internship and the stipend.

Placement Experience :

When I passed out of this reputed college of commerce, law and management, there was not any structured placement mechanism in existence. But, as there was global reform process in the Indian and global economy at that period of time, many job opportunities sprung up, which was easily grabbed by the intended candidates.

College Events :

In the college, we had a lot of entertainment activities and sports events. Many of the students were sent for many outings in the sports arena. All the students used to participate in monthly cricket tournaments with other friendly cricket associations. In an educational year, the college used to host one Sports Day and one Annual Day.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure of the college was quite reasonable when one compares the college with other reputed colleges in Bangalore City. We had to pay Rs 3500 per year as annual fees which is a patient when one compares the fee structure of the period with current-day educational scenario.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

At that point of time, as the fee structure was quite reasonable, there was no scholarship or loan facility offered to meritorious students of this esteemed educational institution.

Campus Life :

The campus life was very exciting as the students indulged in a lot of co-curricular activities conducted within the college and outside. The gender ratio also was very encouraging as the number of boys to girls was one of the best when one compared the ratio within the course curriculum and along the university-wide gender ratio. The students had also to appear and were quite willing to attend other sports events debate and other ectracurricular activities.

Hostel Facilities :

There was no hostel facilities and mess food available with the intended students at that period of time.As almost all students stayed with their parents and peers, the hostel facility was not deemed necessary at that point of time. The college infrastructure consisted of classrooms, library, laboratory and sports rooms.

Alumni/Alumna :

The alumni network is quite unstructured as many of the students have informal communication with their counterparts and teachers in this esteemed institution. They also have contacts with the senior students through social media profiles such as Twitter and Linkedin

Exam Structure :

The three-year course had an elaborate exam structure. The first two years had an internal exam structure wherein students were subject to monthly tests and a preparatory exam. In the end, there was a final exam which was mainly external in nature. In the final year of degree, there was a university-level exam which was conducted by the reputed Bangalore University.

Admission :

The Notification was released in the month of April 1995 and the whole process was completed in around one and a half months time. The classes got started in the month of July 1995. The admin department was headed by Mr Ranganath and he was of huge help in getting the students admitted without much of any hassles

Faculty :

The faculty is well-equipped with the latest advancements in commerce education. Basically, the faculty has a good knowledge of commerce, accounts, taxation and corporate laws and financial management. They have passed out of a reputed university and many of them have got additional qualifications such as B.ed to support their teaching profession.

Placement Experience:

As am currently pursuing a course called ACCA. I have to write exams and there are other plans of doing MCom. After the 5th sem, the students get the chance to take part in campus placements. there are many multinational and regional companies that attend the fair so there is no problem of searching for jobs. companies like EY, KPMG, Standard Chartered etc attend the fair. The companies offer more than 30000 packages for the new placements. Multinationals almost offer more packages and there are other multinationals who offer less, the money is not the issue but the quality of experience that is being gained is what counts. The ones who clear the interview will get the placements. Almost 90% of the students get placements. My plan is to take up MCOM to get a double degree. And am currently doing ACCA along with BCOM.

My personal opinion about this college is that please do not opt for this college. You might be happy before getting into this college but later you will suffer a lot. Be very careful what your decision is.
