- It's the only college under Calcutta University that has a large playground
- The college students' union under Trinamool Chatra Parishad is amazing

- Some of the professors are not at all good. They let their ego take the centre stage
- Most of the benches and desks haven't been upgraded in a really long time.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course under the Calcutta University curriculum covers all the major aspects of economics and its various branches and even though the curriculum doesn't prepare us for the real world much, it helps us to get a proper idea about the master's curriculum. The curriculum should be made student-friendly. The syllabus is too long and sometimes becomes impossible for us to complete the syllabus of each semester. Semester-wise exams are held every 6 months and 4/5 months for the last three semesters.
Placement Experience :
Students become eligible for campus placements from semester 6. Companies like IPAC provide placements and I plan to prepare for UPSC and other government exams after getting the degree. Not many students get campus placements
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
There's no specific tuition fee increase policy. The total cost of education is around 25k-30k for the entire 3-year or 6-semester bachelor's course. scholarship programs like the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship program are available besides other financial aid.
Campus Life :
The annual college fest, Nexus, is held every year from December to March in addition to other departmental fests. the college library houses a large number of books and journals required for the curriculum as well as self-study. There are departmental libraries too. smart class provisions are available. Sports events are held every that are mainly inter-departmental and sometimes inter-college. The social service group, Roddur, provides free education, clothes, food and study materials to underprivileged children
Admission :
Students need to pass class 12 with 50% aggregate marks and get 60+ in Mathematics. The application form is issued on the college website of the Central Portal from this year onwards. Reservations are in place for SC, ST, OBCs and Christian minorities. Exams are held semester-wise around August and March every year. The admission process can be made better by increasing the number of allotted seats for general caste students
Faculty :
The faculty-to-student ratio is pretty high. Our dept. has 4 professors and a total of 40 students if we combine the three years. The teachers are highly qualified but aren't the best when it comes to clearing concepts. They encourage us to approach them for one-on-one doubt-solving but that experience may not always be very pleasant
