TCET Review

Dislikes

  • Internship and placement opportunities needs improvement.
  • Few teachers are unwilling to teach in classroom as well as in labs.

Course Curriculum Overview :

As TCET is an autonomous college, exams are easy to crack. You can easily score very good marks if you study one week before exam. Resource books which are published by TCET are provided in the first year.

Internships Opportunities :

After first year, we were asked to do social internship from Agastya International Foundation. It was 5 day online internship. On the last day, there was online evaluation. No stipend was provided for this internship.

Placement Experience :

Average package offered is around 5 LPA. Not every student is placed. JP Morgan is one of the recruiting companies. Highest package offered is around 15 LPA. Students opting for off campus placements usually grab higher packages.

Fees and Financial Aid :

For the open/ general category students, fees was Rs 170,000 per year in 2023. It keeps on increasing every year. Scholarships are available for OBC, ST, SC, EBC, EWS etc. TFWS ( Tuition Fees Waiver Scheme) is provided to high scoring, low income students.

Campus Life :

There are many fests and extra curricular activities in TCET like Zephyr, Sojourn,Fiesta (for first year), Hackanova, T spark ( sports) etc. Students can be a part of coding, dance, sports, photography clubs

Hostel Facilities :

Thakur Aspire Hostel ( for both boys and girls) is 10 minutes walking distance away from college. In one flat, 6-7 students stay. Hostel fees is 10,000 per month. AC, washing machine, geyser, microwave is provided. There is no mess facility. You need to pay your light bill.

Admission :

Students must clear state level entrance exam MHT CET or JEE mains to get admission in this college. For Jammu/ Kashmir students, entrance exam is not mandatory. For IT engineering, MHT CET cut off was around 96 percentile in 2023 for open category.

Faculty :

Faculties are well educated in TCET. Though, few of them are unwilling to teach. You can interact with teachers and clear your doubts in classroom, staff room or through WhatsApp. Few teachers use projectors to teach.

Curriculum involves learning high tech technologies like Artifical Intelligence, Data Science, Machine learning, VLSI and Automation. This curriculum builds the skill set of an individual for the contemporary industrial needs. Areas of improvement should be regularly field and industrial visits should be conducted.
