Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

We are following CBME curriculam. It is more focised on to the clinical side. The syllabus is really hectic. It has to be completed in nine months(1st yr i mean), which is too hard to do. As we are new to such a hectic schedule it'll be hard to adapt. But not a Herculean task if you are consistent. There is only one university exam a year but college will conduct three sessionals for internal assessment.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

Internship stipend is ?35k for UG interns and 55k fir PG residents. No placement facilities are available. It is not a usual thing in med school to have placements as far as i know. PG preparations centres are there in the premises which can be made use of.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarships are available like egrants and that are exclusively for medical students. Campus placement not there as it is not hapoening in any med school. After 4 year course there is 1 yr compulsory internship which will give an amount around 35k per month.MBBS in pvt colleges will cost crores where as in govt it is thousands.

Campus Life

4.5

The culture here is good also the social life is nice. People here are not that toxic. Sports, arts, literature etc are promoted with interbatch, intrabatch and intercollege progrannes. In 2023 our college conducte an exhibition 'MEDEX', abheri(interbatch arts), sports, bazinga(intrabatch for first years), particopated in SPECTRA intermedicos at tvm and bagged 4th place overall.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

In first year a 5 seated room is allowed which will be 2/3 in upcoming years. Mess fee is 110/day and establishment fee of ?700 per month. U will be provide a coat and a common shelf. Study hall is not well equipped and also no individual tables are allowed.

Admission

Admission is through NEET entrance examination. My score was 651 and rank 6746.AIR 7.5k has entered my college in 2023. There are reservations for sc,st, obc, ews etc. All india cut off for govt in 2023 was 610 and for kerala above 620 was needed.

Faculty

4

Teacher-student relationship is good here. You can reach them anytime for doubt clearence, and even for personal setbacks like depression, stress, anxiety etc. They are all really supportive and at the same time strict with academics. None of them will lose your time in the classes if you are attendive and never gets offfended on correcting them. From professors to residents they are all approachable.

The academics are well scheduled here. The class strength is of 250 students. There are a lot of faculties to help you with the academics. The HOD of the aubject coordinates the academics of that subject. Internal exams are conducted regularly.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course not due to the curriculum..i qlways dreamed of becoming a good doctor. The level.of satisfaction you get in this profession wont be anywhere else. The modernization of curriculum has stressed on the clinical aspects which i think is the core of medicine. We have been taken to bedside and taught to examine patients diagnose the case and interpret imaging. Also the skill lab clears the obstruction we face in a real life like we are being trained in BLS and ALS. Our junior batches are also taken to trivandrum medical college to see autopsy which in fact is a real opportunity. The course could improve in a way that apart from academics it must give importance to sports arts also which is not promoted in our college. Also revisions classes can be made effects by conducting small test papers chapter wise instead of taking chapters on repetition. Exams are almost done in an effective way. The course is actually very difficult compared to others. So much effort has to be put in from both students and Teacher's side.

I chose MBBS as it has been one of my dreams since my childhood and it's my parent's dream more than mine. Faculties teaching in the First year min qualification is a master of science in the particular subject and from the second year onwards the minimum qualification is MBBS for every faculty. Three exams per year and you have to pass any one exam to write in university exam and it's somewhat difficult to pass if you start studying at last

Remarks:

The hostel and college infrastructure are a little poor compared to other colleges but it is expected with the minimal fees given. There are a lot of festivals and programs and a healthy political atmosphere. The non violent conflicts between the two opposing parties lead to good development in the college.
