What Students Say
Likes
- the College is very free from all the crowd, It is a great experience to sometimes just sit idel in the corridor in the silence, almost most of it is empty
- It's just the time of Practicals and Exams that theere is some crowd in the college, else most of the year the college is mostly empty
- The fact that when the end term exams are held by the university, its probable that you'll be assigned a center where its easy to commute in exam times, rather than being assigned this college as the center
Dislikes
- It's very difficult to commute to the college, the travel time is too much. As the location of the college is almost out of delhi, It becomes difficult to travel in extreme seasons like really hot summers and foggy winters.
- The Event organisation of the college is not so frequent and the quality of events is also not that good, Although the events come to be pretty good due to the organizing team, but the capital invested is not so much...
- And the most disliked of all is the canteen of the college, since I've been here for more than 3 years the canteen owner changes every semester, there are regular complaints by the students.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course Curriculum is Subject to the university as it is described bhy the University only. So the role of the college is not as significant in this as compared to the university. In the frist year it was mostly irrelevant and slowly and gradually the relevance increases. Upto the last year it's getting all related just to my feild, although there are a few subjects less related to the feild and mostly they are comprehensive. There is always one subject that is totally out of the relevancy, its just not related at all. A subject in every semester is added from the Social Science type branch, it could me Indian Contitution, Human Values, etc. Studying such subjects could be hectic sometimes, all the time we are bound to study technical subjects and all of a sudden we are expected to score good marks in a totally different subject also. Well it could be refreshing for some students to take a break from that technical study, but personally my expeirnce was not so good in such subjects.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tuition fee is fixed in the begining only and and the fees that is paid in the first year only is fixed for the upcoming years of the course. Other than the course fees, a security charge was also appluied in the first year, after that just the course fees is taken every year, no other extra fees was taken, It might be included if the student choose to take college transport. Scolarship depends year by year, like in our first year government of Delhi provided the scholarship, from the second year the university started instead of the government which didn't included the whole amount in the scholarship.
Campus Life
The Campus life of HMR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND MANAGEMENT can be described as fun, patience-testing, and also very calm. the college is situated very outside of the city so the first and main issue is the transportation, other than that social clubs, and event helding is not vey often in this college... The clubs might organize an event once in a year not more than that, there are different clubs/societies available like fine arts, Dance, Paradox, etc... But to summarize its not that exciting and engaging most of the times, as the college doesn't provide funding at all for such events to be organised.
Admission
the Admission process is based on the JEE MAINS rank, the university didn't conduct any private entrance exam. The result of the JEE MAINS is taken into observation. There are rounds of counseling done by the university in which the student is required to fill there choices of college and based on the Choice filling and rank cut-off of the respective college the student can start the admission process by visiting in person on the college campus.
Faculty
I've been from IT department so I had more interaction with them only, a few faculty were from applied sciences department for there respective subjects. Other than them the interaction with faculties of other department was not very often. All in all the faculties are very friendly and supportive, there are a few who do not care at all but otherwise faculties are good from my personal experience. Not just the faculties other workers at the college were also very gentle and friendly. The faculty-to-student ratio is appropriate. but depending on the department the faculties can be over and under. As the students are very handful in core branches there faculty-to-student ratio is over, and in departments like CSE, IT, here the ratio might be under in a few sections. Perticularly in my class the ratio was fine and it didn't affected the learning Experience. The faculty credentials depends faculty to faculty, Baseline all of them are M.Tech qualified and there are faculties with upto PhD.
