Review of Pt. Prithi Nath College, Kanpur

Dislikes

  • I have disliked nothing as such. Focus on the positives.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum for B.A. is very well detailed. Any students who chooses to study the same and read the recommended books and attend college lectures will gain a sufficient understanding on par with top central universities. Exams are held on a per semester basis every 6 months. CSJMU University, as of June 2024, has a odd-even semester system with subjective exams in the former and objective exams in the latter. ODD Sem starts from ~June-July. Very practical curriculum and test system.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Complete cost of education is within 2800-3700 per year, one of the lowest in Kanpur Nagar. Tuition fee increased policy I am unaware of, as such. There are many scholarships like National Scholarship, UP Scholarship, Kanya Sumangla scholarship, CSIR Scholarship... Please visit college website for the same. I have not undertaken any campus responsibility as of yet, though the college organises many competitions.

Campus Life :

There is an annual festival called Spandan, usually held in April. There are many technical conferences and assembly. Classrooms are equipped with blackboards and fans (subject to change, eventually with better facilities coming soon). There is a separate course for P.ed and students can opt for the same in B.A. as vocational course or minor course, as well. There are no student run clubs but there is a healthy social atmosphere with no ragging and discipline.

Admission :

Eligibility of the course is 10+2 with any stream. Minimum 45% marks in 10+2. Have to submit an anti-ragging affidavit. Have to submit year gap affidavit if student has taken year gap (up to 2 year gap is permitted). M.A. can be done only in the subject studied in last year. Can change the minor subject in 2nd year. Find everything on the college website. Admission is held in the time of June-July which is the hottest months of the year so take precautions regarding health.

Faculty :

The faculty to student ratios is 1:40 though a low student attendance typically makes it 1:10 in most subjects, except English and some others, like political science. Most faculty members are doctorate holders and assistant professors or above. Very easy to interact with the faculty.

Other Applied Colleges

Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University - [CSJMU] | Bachelor of Business Administration [BBA]

Due to high fees concerns

Pandit Prithi Nath College - [PPN] | Bachelor of Commerce [B.Com]

Students with Humanities & Arts in 10+2 cannot opt B.Com or BCA, here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I wanted to prepare for civil services, which is why I did B.A. from a good college. I got good subjects here like history, polity, and Hindi, for which the teachers here provided good preparation. In this preparation, I have built a good foundation in history and polity, which will contribute to my success in civil services. The teachers' teaching method was good. They did not take the class just to study but they paid more attention to explaining.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The study of course is well and fine the way teachers tell you everything is so good you can understand each and everything there teaching methods are so good I don't think there is a need to change in teaching methods. The duration of classes is 45 min. Duration of exams in objective and subjective paper is 1:30 min and 3 hours respectively.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course- is Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology. BHU has the largest faculty strength (34) of AIHC in the whole nation. The student-teacher ratio is also good. And are quite easy to pass. Midterm exams and semester exams ate the two main tests.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose political science because the following politics is my passion and political science is quite helpful in preparation for UPSC CSE. Talking about faculty: the student ratio, there's approximately 1 faculty for every 10 students. Faculty qualification is something which needs to improve a lot. Teaching methods are ordinary with very few exceptions, as far as my course is concerned. Term exams are usually held on time and the difficulty level is usually between easy to moderate.
