- The university is very spacious occupied with nature, park. The pleasant atmosphere in college.
- College provide hostels inside the campus with less amount compared with other hostels outside.
Dislikes
- Not providing schedule of exams before a month.
- No proper guidance about career after opted for this course.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I just have passion to opt this course after my BiPC. The curriculum is very good, but the practical approach ,if they provide more potential then it would be better. They provide exams in intermediate, it's not so tough one can pass easily. But they also provide how to write research papers, then student will know the real world. This course is essential for those who have passion on research especially. They may choose companies, scientist and entrepreneurship.
Internships Opportunities :
Government Institutes provide internships with stipend. The college also provide workshops one can pay and complete the course. Projects should be done at 10 th sem if they are integrated. But now they are asking projects for 6 th sem itself, because if they did they may quit or complete the MSc. But for MSc students they should submit at their 4 th sem. If the students are interested they can complete their project in WBIF present in same department. The price here is low but students often opt other private companies or government institutes.
Placement Experience :
There are two types in this course. 1) integrated Biotechnology 2) MSc. Biotechnology. Integrated means they can complete their BSc+ MSc. Simultaneously. For MSc. Biotechnology they should write the exam for the eligibility for MSc. Biotechnology. After graduation one can go for companies. Sometimes they bring placements . The average package is 300000 per annum. They may choose government jobs in this field but they persuaded with PhD or qualified CSIR Or DBT or NET. 70 % with theory and practical knowledge along with internships and other courses are preferred in companies.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The hostel fees depends on the grocery prices. They may charge 65 Rs per day for meals some times. But the price and food is worthy. Come to the academic fee 43000 rs for non scholarship students per year and 23500rs for scholarship students. Scholarship provided by the government for Bc, Sc, ST as Vidya deevena. They will provide campus placements for this biotechnology courses sometimes. Like from companies and teaching areas.
Campus Life :
Seniors conduct freshers party for freshers in July or August depends on their convenience. Juniors conduct farewell party in February for seniors. They also conducts Essay competition, poster making, Quizzes, science day celebrations, beauty contest, singing competition , stalls etc. The central Library is very spacious with lot of books. Can find their required book with the library pass provided by library at joining time. Department consist of Smart room with a large screen , AC and projecter room. One can present their thesis in presentation room. Not only that ,they provide computer lab and small library in department itself. Students can participate in NSS. Can also participate as students president in college. The college consist of more than 20 courses , along with distance education.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostels provided inside the campus with full security. The price and food worthy compared with hostels outside. No AC rooms provided. They provide with cot and each room consist 6 members sometimes 7 members with Common washrooms. The hostel itself contain a small shop where you can get almost everything. The campus provided with a canteen too. The breakfast like dosa, chapati, lemon rice, pongal, upma, idly and color rice. One can afford the price and hostel administration present inside the hostel campus. Different blocks present like gangotri, gayatri, manjeera, kalyani etc. But option for choosing the block is not under our control. You can get a gate pass from the hostel administration. Without gate pass the security won't allow you out. It's mandatory. I prefered hostel inside the campus.
Admission :
There is no entrance exam for Biotechnology. The eligibility is based on your Intermediate marks. One can check the official page of SPMVV for notifications and apply online. Carry the application xerox, your certificates to the admission process. They will verify your marks and announce your names on the spot in admission process. The admission process is good but if they may decrease the academic fee then it's helpful to the people from non reservation category.
Faculty :
The faculty is very friendly manner. We can interact with them easily. The faculty maximum persuaded PhD. They organize many webinars with great people. Weekly one can interact with their assisted mentors. They can resolve the issues as soon as possible.
