- The curriculum designed for CSE is apt an in sync with the industry demands, we dont have to study chemistry like other colleges and physics that we have in 1st sem only has topic relevant with CSE
- Faculties here are very nice and qualified, they know a lot about the subject they teach. Many of them also have industry experience
Dislikes
- Co-curricular aspect of the university could have been better, currently there is nothing much to do, fests and events do happen bug there is lack of participation from students
- The campus is overcrowded especially with CSE students, they do t have adequate infrastructure to accomoadate these many students also I feel the university will reach its saturation point very soon of they continue to take admissions at this pace
Course Curriculum Overview :
The curriculum is somewhat aligned to the industry demands we have core CSE subjects like DSA in first year itself. We also study subjects like living conversations, critical thinking and writing and problem solving that are aimed to prepare us for placements and interviews. The one good thing about the curriculum here is that topics irrelevant to CSE are not included in the syllabus. We also study subjects like computer architecture and organisation, digital electronics. I'm satisfied with the curriculum it sparks my curiosity and keeps me interested in the course. Although there is still scope for improvement as teaching methods could include more practical approach rather than theory, subjects like DSA could have projects as a part of assessment and computer architecture could be understood better if we have a motherboard to see and digital electronics can be understood better if we get to make some circuits. Exams are held twice every semester (midsems and endsems). Difficulty: easytomoderate
Internships Opportunities :
In 3rd year students get internships with the help of placement cell. Companies take exams and interviews and then offer internships some with stipend and some without. It all depends upon your performance in the interviews if u manage to score well and Crack interviews you'll land up interning in a good company with stipend else you'll have to work for free in a not so good company
Placement Experience :
Placements here are okayish most of the students do get placed but only a few bag good ctc's. Students are required to do a compulsory internship in 3rd year after which they might get pre placements offer or may sit for placements starting from 4th year, companies like TCS, Panasonic, deloitte, etc visit the campus offering software developer roles
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Fees is submitted before the start of every semester. For btech cse total tuition fees for 4 year programme is around 20 lac excluding accommodation. Scholarships are available to students on the basis of class 12 board percentage and jee score (usually ranges from 15% to 30%). There is no provision of campus employment for students in the university
Campus Life :
Fests and events are help rather frequently in this college, flagship fests Spandan (annual sports fest) and Urjaa(annual cultural fest) are held in February-March and November-October respectively. Various other events like workshops and hackathons are also held throughout the year. Sports like table tennis and badminton are very prominent in the university, there is also football ground , basketball and volleyball courts, crickets pitch and nets in the campus. Library is very large having three floors and has a variety of books and journals for every subject that is taught, there are also several areas within the library to sit and study. There are also several clubs for sports, music, dramatics, technical clubs and communities , support clubs ,etc but lack of participation from students is there. In classrooms in terms of technical provisions we have a few sockets. Projector and speakers and wifi which hardly ever works
Admission :
The eligibility for admission in upes is minimum 50% in PCM in 12th boards. You can find the application form online on the offical website , you may apply for admission based on your board marks, jee scores, cuet score , sat score or appear for university entrance exam UPESEAT. The exam is held in may-june and easy questions are asked from physics, chemistry, maths, English , current awareness. Not very difficult to Crack. After you have secured your seat you are supposed to submit you documents and details online you can also opt for campus hostel which is allocated on first come first serve basis
Faculty :
The faculties are well qualified ,many of them having degrees from premier institutions of the country and abroad, they seem to expertise in the subject they take up. Communication with the faculty is very open to every student, you can easily walk up to the faculty and ask your concern or seek advice either in the classroom itself or even in their cabins. Communication is encouraged with the faculties. The student to faculty ratio is not very satisfactory it's about 1 teacher for 60-70 students depending upon the batch size. Though it should not be an concern as interactive teaching methods like ppts and external resources are provided to you after every class.
