Likes
- the way of teaching is really good .they make us understand and they conduct internal exams with 2 and half module each begore the end exam.
- There are placement opportunities in the college as this year a lot of mechanical students got placed .
Dislikes
- Things i don’t like are the campus life in the college .the college doesn’t provide much outside exposure and only concentrates on studies.
- The campus is really strict with strict rules and regulations.if anything is done against the rules strict actions are taken including suspension and dismissal.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum they provide is actually good the one that made me choose this course is that they have a lot of practical tools and machinery to show us things in a practical view. In the curriculum, each semester contains two internal exams and last main exam. We have to pass at least one internal with 20 marks or else they won't allow us to write the main exam. And curriculum is such a way that if a person has more than 5 backlogs they will have yearout.
Internships Opportunities
Internships start from either the 4th semester or the 5th semester so I don't know much about internships so far .as per news heard from seniors, there are internship opportunities offered from the campus itself, and that is for almost 2 months.
Placement Experience
There are campus placements available within the campus as this is a main vtu college in Mangalore. I think placement opportunities start from the 7th semester onwards. this year last month a lot of mechanical students were placed with an average of 7 lakh per annum. In civil I don't know if there are placement opportunities or not and I am not depending on that. companies like Infosys, wipro, TCS, robust, etc. are offering students job opportunities with a minimum package of 4 lakh per year.
Fees and Financial Aid
Tution fees for mech and civil are almost the same except for NRI students late joining students which is 1 lakh per year .and for other courses related to cse start from 2 lakh to 4 lakh through management. tution fees remain the same for every scheme. The total fees for me (civil) are 4 lakh for tution fees and 4lakh for the hostel and other necessary needs. total of 8 lakhs or 9 lakhs. hostel fees are 85000 per year. There are a lot of placement opportunities in this college compared to other vtu colleges in Mangalore.
Campus Life
Some cultural tech festivals. Every year there is an Aakar cultural fest which lasts for 2-3 days where all the colleges participate and it's a fun fest with joy and happiness. Apart from that every year, there is an auto expo show where people show off their motors these two are the important fests in our college. There are also sports days which is also good.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fees including mess food is 85000 for every year .mess food is not bad even though its a cycle of same food every week . food is ok ok. hostel room contains 3 room for 3 people each . with 2 fans . and there are people to clean the room everyday. there are sports activities like gym , football, cricket etc to play in evening.
Admission
Eligibility of the course is one should be having 12th percentage more than 40 percent or something. those who have more percentage have more chance of getting the seat reserved. I don't know much about scholarships but heard about some, so you can contact the college office. the timing of exams is actually bit difficult to cop with because there will be only a month gap between each exam and that too in between there will be a lot of cultural fest and competitions and assignments to submit. That's a bit difficult but we can pass it easily.
Faculty
The faculties are actually excluding some mostly all are nice and grateful to teach us without any differences. But certain faculties do show partiality between locals and us. they always try to find some mistake in us. but there are a lot of other faculty who support us and encourage us in our studies.
Other Applied Colleges
