Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

This course is my dream course,so I have a great view towards it.Now the medical body have changed the rules and made our curriculum a competence based medical education -CBME ,And it's such a wonderful approach.Monthly exams, Sessional exams which occurs once in three months and frequent practical exams are held. The teaching which is entirely dependent on PowerPoint is very difficult for some of us to understand,so I am not in favour of such theory classes.

Internships Opportunities

4.5

Intership is given after completing the fourth year of our course .Interns are assigned duties in different departments and this gives them an overall idea about every departments. They are assigned duties in both casualties and wards.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is separate fees like tuition fee ,van fee, miscellaneous fee etc .But these all comes under 26000 rs.700 rs is given as establishment fees monthly in hostel, nearly 3000 rs comes as mess fee monthly then an amount of 600 is to be deposited yearly as hostel rent.So many scholarships are granted for the respective communities.

Campus Life

4.5

Overall campus experience is awesome.Majority of our lecture halls are equipped with air conditioners, which provides us a better studying envt.So many celebs, unions, sports are held which gives us a great relaxation from our stresses.A well facilitated Library is provided by our college. Our theory lecture halls are equipped with projectors and smart boards which provides a dust free environment.

Hostel Facilities

4

One room is allotted for 3 persons. Each of them will be having adequate space and each one of us is provided with a chair, a table and a bed.Good food with equal vegetables and meat is given to us. morning food includes idli, dosa, putt, idiyappam, sambar, banana etc. Afternoon we have rice along with some veg currys with egg / meat / fish and for dinner we will be having rice/biriyani or chappathi. Hostel mess bill comes around nearly 3000 monthly. Registration for hostel occurs partly in college and partly in hostel.

Admission

The admission was based on the marks obtained by writing NEET entrance exam A minimum of 640 out of 720 marks is required to get admission in our college for those who belong to general category. The registration for NEET Exam will be announced by the respective body which governs the exam. The exam occurs once in every year and all those who have passed twelth standard can apply for the entrance examination.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course not due to the curriculum..i qlways dreamed of becoming a good doctor. The level.of satisfaction you get in this profession wont be anywhere else. The modernization of curriculum has stressed on the clinical aspects which i think is the core of medicine. We have been taken to bedside and taught to examine patients diagnose the case and interpret imaging. Also the skill lab clears the obstruction we face in a real life like we are being trained in BLS and ALS. Our junior batches are also taken to trivandrum medical college to see autopsy which in fact is a real opportunity. The course could improve in a way that apart from academics it must give importance to sports arts also which is not promoted in our college. Also revisions classes can be made effects by conducting small test papers chapter wise instead of taking chapters on repetition. Exams are almost done in an effective way. The course is actually very difficult compared to others. So much effort has to be put in from both students and Teacher's side.

I chose MBBS as it has been one of my dreams since my childhood and it's my parent's dream more than mine. Faculties teaching in the First year min qualification is a master of science in the particular subject and from the second year onwards the minimum qualification is MBBS for every faculty. Three exams per year and you have to pass any one exam to write in university exam and it's somewhat difficult to pass if you start studying at last

Remarks:

The hostel and college infrastructure are a little poor compared to other colleges but it is expected with the minimal fees given. There are a lot of festivals and programs and a healthy political atmosphere. The non violent conflicts between the two opposing parties lead to good development in the college.
