Overall review of BNMIT

Course Curriculum Overview :

This college is autonomous, so the syllabus is less than VTU colleges, still, you might struggle because it's quite a vigorous course, also you need to do some online courses and develop skills for coding on leetcode, so you won't find any free time like that. The difficulty level of exams is more than average but not extremely hard. Some teachers are quite nice and knowledgeable. For real-world purposes, you need to invest ur own time in building DSA skills for which u may find slightly less time, but yeah it's manageable.

Internships Opportunities :

RPA and startup internships are available mostly. You need to crack those internships off-campus to get good internships. Oracle comes with a good opportunity for an internship. Around 40k - 50k it offers as I heard from faculties. Good Courses you will get from college.

Placement Experience :

Some companies visit in the 4th or 5th semester. But mainly placements start from the 6th sem. The majority are getting mass recruitment jobs in Infosys, Capgemini. I must warn you can't survive in 3 or 4 lpa in Bangalore if you don't have any property or dont get money from home even after getting a job, so it's of no use. The highest placement one batch before was 40 lpa while this year its 11 or 12 lpa, that's because of the recession. every 3rd tier college placement is down this year. average is around 5 or 5.5 lpa.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

Tuition fees are 275000 one batch before it was 257000, financial aid if u are from north india dont expect it from them. You can get it only if you top in college, I got 5000 rs for getting a 9.9 sgpa, and earlier for the same sgpa people got 10000 rs. They are great marketing managers. This year placement was low due to the recession hit in corporate.

Campus Life :

Technical fests are held once in half a year. This college focuses extremely on academics. You can have great campus life club involvement and all theoretically but they will overload with assignments and reports so you will struggle to have a good campus life. Some teachers won't provide attendance too for participating in activities. In the first sem, I participated in some blood donation volunteering, I had 100% attendance in IoT I even asked ma'am to give attendance on that day, but to no use still 95% attendance. The attendance policy is the worst. 85% compulsory attendance else can't sit in the exam.

Admission :

I got in there through COMEDK. It's a 3-hour exam of 180 ques. I took admission in the first round only. I got a 7871 rank, I should have gone to the third round I could have gotten CS or IS in DSCE. This was a mistake I made in the college selection. The difficulty level was not like JEE it was easy just you need to have speed. You need to go there and register some VTU fees and skill development fees after paying the fees on COMEDK.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good enough for IT fields and you will get a decent amount of package. But if you want core placements we may get a few companies with few jobs so you should be competitive enough to crack these. Last year our college got the highest package of 52LPA. An average package is around 7.5 LPA.
