Course Curriculum Overview :
Although the degree is called Applied Geology, the curriculum is not exactly is line with the industry demands but this is the case with most of the institutes offering geology at this level. The curriculum prepares you for the Geologist examination by UPSC etc. Teaching faculty are adept to latest research in the domain. Exams are not too stressful, and they are held on a frequent basis.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Tution fee was steeply hiked between 2013-14. It didn't even cost 150,000/- to do this course between 2010-15. University offers 750/- per month stipend which majority of the students didn't receive even after having the eligibility, for reasons best known to the management. It's not about affordability, but the latest round of fee hikes are not commensurate with the marketability of the degree.
Campus Life :
This part is the best aspect of the university. It is so diverse and vibrant with pupils from all corners of the country and also the world for a part. The library is having a good number of relevant reference books along with computers with internet facility. Classrooms have the projectors and other modern teaching aids. University has a big playground and a decent gymnasium. There are almost always some extracurricular activities that happen in the campus. Student run groups were also present, and this activity must have increased.
Hostel Facilities :
The prospectus mentioned "twinning" for accomodation but 3 students were allotted a room that has 3 beds, but 2 tables and 2 chairs. Room size is decent. Meal quality used to be as bad for the most part and occassionaly worse. Hostel fee is affordoble and there is a fee exemption to SC/STs.
Admission :
In 2010, it was an offline exam with an offline application. Eligibility to this course was +2 with Math, Physics & Chemistry. Application now a days is throgh online. Entrance exam is relatively easy compared to other Engineering exams.
