Remarks
Off late, the college management has started implementing some real right wing facist policies. The administration is mostly unhelpful. That's the case with DU everywhere. The only thing worth coming here are that student run college societies.
Entrance Preview
SAT - 2010/2400. Also cleared Symbiosis and IP University for Mass Communication. Got into Hans Raj via Cut-Offs. No interview has been taken. Choose this due to a good reputation amongst parents and because I wasn't really sure what I wanted and DU seemed like a safe option.
Internships Opportunities
Internships and placements are mostly for Commerce courses. However, in DU get to gear about a lot of internship opportunities in Delhi. For most you could apply online followed by an interview.
Placement Experience
Again - placements mostly done for Commerce courses. Decent packages. Arts students have to mostly look for freelance jobs themselves or post graduate courses with little help from the college. But if you're good - you can find some real helpful advice from your seniors and teachers.
College Events
The annual College Fest in collaboration with ECA societies. Plus a ton of society and department fests - Creative Writing fest, English Literary fest, The NSS fest etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is reasonable enough. My friends staying in the hostel and PGs don't have many complaints other than fussy landlords. Although the college doesn't have a girls hostel which has amounted to trouble for female students looking for accommodation.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarships - mostly for reserved categories. Token awards given to select course toppers.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is pretty stable. Campus life is pretty good due to some excellent company amongst college societies and such. Infrastructure and administration is a major issue though - DU is very non-cooperative with its students when it comes to helping them around campus.
Alumni/Alumna
Senior students are helpful in my course in particular - but networks are formed informally by initiative from students themselves. The college has hardly any conscious efforts to maintain an alumni body.
Faculty
The English Faculty at Hans Raj (except one or two teachers) is par excellence. In fact, I can honestly say, that inspite of the copious amount of problems with the way the syllabus is arranged thanks to the DU admin, the professors are what make this col
