Course Curriculum Overview :

I took CSE with AI and ML because I wanted to pursue computer engineering with AI. In the first year there is no emphasis on AI as such but yes many workshops are conducted for dara science, AI and ML etc. The curriculum is overall okay but I think subjects like chemistry are unnecessary for a computer science major. They should remove chemistry and add a basic Computer Science Subject in first semester like HTML. VIT conducts 3 exams per semester, 2 mid sems and one end sem namely CAT 1 and 2 and FAT. CAT 1 is really easy, CAT 2 however being an open book exam is a little difficult but still doable, FAT's difficulty lies somewhere in between CAT 1 and 2.

Internships Opportunities :

I am not a third year yet to know a lot about internships but I do know that our seniors have placement training and internship training every weekend and the internships though not all of them but provide stipend.

Placement Experience :

The placement percentage is really high in VIT. More than 90 percent students get placed. Companies like Google, Amazon, Flipkart visit every year and offer around 200-300 people just from these top companies, coming to good companies around 2000-4000 offers and the rest get placed in mass recruiters like TCS. The highest package seen here was 1cr and average is around 9-10 lakhs as of 2022 data.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

There is no tution fee increase policy. The complete cost is around 5 Lakhs every year considering everything, tution, service charges, hostel, mess, etc. VIT provides scholarship in a different manner, there are 5 categories through which students can get admission, Category 1 has the lowest tution fee being 2 lakhs per year and Category 5 having 5 lakhs per year so it depends on you rank how much scholarship you will get. Tution Fees (As of 2023) :- Category 1- 2 lakhs Category 2- 3 lakhs Category 3- 4 lakhs Category 4- 4.5 lakhs Category 5- 5 lakhs I am a first year so I have not taken any job roles till now.

Campus Life :

For technical fest we have TechnoVIT every October or November while for annual fest we have VIBRANCE which is held in February or March. The library is awesome to say the least, it has loads and loads of books and research papers, everything from literature to law to science can be found there and can be issued with your ID card. The classrooms are pretty basic, just a blackboard, a whiteboard and a projector to display presentations. For sports, you can play anything you want they even give equipment from their side but the football ground is not big enough, except that the basketball court the tennis court, swimming pool everything is great. Most of the clubs in VIT are student-run and they organise events which are really cool. There is a club for every state and even anime. The events they organise are sometimes paid.

Hostel Facilities :

I have took a 4 bedded room which is the best choice in my opinion, we have a bed, a small shelf and a cupboard each. Wi-Fi connectivity from 4 a.m. to 12 a.m. though the speed is 4mbps which is barely enough to watch videos at 1080p. The food however is really really good, except one or two meals a week when the food is not edible but it is manageable as I always order food from outside kn Thursday nights and Saturday afternoon. The mess system is divided in 3 types veg, non veg and special, I am in veg mess and I think the special mess food is even better. To register for hostel and mess you have to go to the same portal where you pay the tuition fee but I would say its on the expensive side as 2 lakhs per year for hostel and mess is a lot.

Admission :

The admission was through the entrance exam VITEEE, just apply online on VIT's site and do the necessary payments. For the exam it's pretty easy, I got around 100-110 put of 200 and got 16000 rank which is enough to get in any branch you want within the top 3 categories in the chennai campus. VIT can improve a lot when it comes to handling their servers, a little load and they crash.
