Course Curriculum Overview
I chose MBA in finance because it has a lot of scope in the corporate world. Finance is a large domain having various branches and a lot of options to choose from. The classes taught helps us do financial analysis, technical analysis and a lot of other real world applications. Areas for improvement would be giving case studies related to real life to help us be more prepared to work in a company. There are midterms and end semester exams with a gap of 2-3 months in between. The difficulty level is moderate and can be cracked with hardwork and smart work.
Internships Opportunities
Companies that have come for internship - Tata AIG, Tata Trent, Volvo Eicher, Fujitsu, Bharti AXA, Grow well, Mastersoft, Skilled Sapiens, etc Some of the roles were portfolio management, taxation, accounting P2P process, sales and marketing research, trade analytics
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for campus placements from 3rd semester, in case of Final placements, and in case of Summer internship programmes, students are eligible from the first semester itself. Some of the companies visited are ITC, Deloitte, Tata AIG, Tata Trent, Volvo Richer, ICICI Lombard, Kotak, HUL, etc The highest package offered in 2023 was 17-18 lakhs PA. The minimum starting from 8 lakhs PA.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since SIBM Nagpur started in 2019, there haven't been as many hikes as of now. The only thing considered to face the inflation is the mess fees considering the high inflation food has. Cost of education- 22.60 lakhs Academic fees per annum - 815000 Mess fees per annum - 121000 Rooms- two/three/ four sharing (Air conditioning)- 200000/176500/147500 Financial aid is available to the toppers of the year. I have undertaken the summer internship programme through campus placements, in Tata Trent for a stipend for 7000Rs
Campus Life
Campus life is extraordinary in SIBM Nagpur. There's a lot going on apart from academics. There are various clubs and committees including the placecom, Research and Development cell, entrepreneurial cell, Scholarly Development and Publication committee, Aspirants Outreach Committee, Finomics Club, Markiosys Club, Huros Club, etc. We have access to E- library, keeping up with the latest technology and having access to a lot of portals such as web of science, Scopus, etc Regular Health check ups are done for insurance purposes. The sports facilities are available to all the students with indoor and outdoor games, along with gym, yoga and zumba. The campus also has an in house doctor and a mental well being counselor to cater to needs of every student who faces physical and mental health issues.
Admission
The admission process had three steps- written ability test, group discussion and personal interview having a panel of 2 members. We have to write snap exam to get into any symbiosis institute. The cut off for Sibm Pune is 99 percentile. The snap exam is conducted in the month of December every year, maximum attempts are 3. The marks considered are the best out of the three attempts. The difficulty level is moderate compared to CAT exam. One suggestion is to keep a better vigilance of the written ability test for the admission process
Interview Experience
The topic of GD that I faced was the G20 presidency. The interview questions were basic, covering the important aspects for a potential MBA student, such as General Knowledge, Domain Knowledge, Case questions, etc After the PI, merit lists were sent out letting the students know if they were selected for the admission or not. I prepared for these rounds by going through newspapers, magazines, and YouTube videos.
