What Students Say
Likes
- Infrastructure is the backbone of the college. There is a beautiful and huge 76 acre campus in which you get all kinds of essential amenities.
- Extra curricular activities. Student driven clubs and committees formed by college are conducting various kinds of events every month.
- College organized various kinds of events from time to time like cultural eve, freshers party, Christmas party, Ganesh Chaturthi, friendship day etc.
Dislikes
- Placement could be better. In terms of fees they charged for 2 years of MBA, ROI couldn't be at satisfactory level.
- Teaching faculties must be permanent. In specialization like Business Analytics they can't even have full time faculty, only guest faculties or part time faculties are teaching.
Course Curriculum Overview
As we talk about the curriculum, the curriculum covers all essential subjects such as finance, marketing, operations, statistics, data analytics etc. I was interested in Human Resource management as a specialization which includes subjects like Labour laws, Learning and development, Talent management etc. so these subjects influenced me to choose the HR specialization in this course. Apart from the curriculum, the college provides some certification courses, live projects, and industrial visits like opportunities for hands-on learning. Some areas in which our college needs to improve like college must include the latest and industry-driven software like Python in our academic curriculum. Another thing is that students are from diverse backgrounds, so they must provide some sort of courses to brush up on the basic concepts of technical subjects. Assessments are completely balanced throughout the semester, including quizzes, surprise tests, mid-terms and end-term exams.
Internships Opportunities
There are several companies like KPIT, KPMG, VE commercials, digit, Fujitsu etc. are recruiting students for internships this year. Companies offered the role according to the specialization. The maximum stipend of this year for the summer internship is Rs. 40,000 and the average stipend range is Rs. 15,000. As not yet started my internship program it's difficult for me to mention the projects and tasks they provided during the internship.
Placement Experience
A dedicated placement committee consisting of students were formed by the college at the beginning. They are responsible for providing all kinds of placement, and placement-related assistance to the students. From the 1st year, students become eligible for their summer internship placement and from the 3rd semester, students become eligible for their final placements. There are several companies like Adani, KPMG, Grant Thorton, KPIT, Tech Mahindra etc. visited for the placements. Till now approx more than 80% of the eligible students are placed. My plans after getting the degree are to start working and exploring corporate life.
Fees and Financial Aid
The complete cost of education is around 22-23L for 2 years which includes tuition fees, service fees, hostel charges and all kinds of compulsory charges. The college doesn't charge us anything apart from this. At the end of the financial year in March, the rates of Mess food, and hostel charges are increased. So, every year about a 10% hike is seen in hostel and mess fees. Financial aid is provided to those students who are excellent in throughout their academics. Hardly 1-2 students are shortlisted every year for financial aid. There are several kinds of off-campus scholarships are also available like National scholarships, scholarships provided by various banks based on the student's academic performance.
Campus Life
As we talk about, the college has a lavishing white house-like campus. Every single facility like a library, gym, sports centre, health centre, wellness centre etc. all are available inside the campus. You don't need to step out from the campus for these basic requirements. There are a variety of journals, books and even e-books are also available in the library. Every classroom is air-conditioned and equipped with smart projectors, mics, speakers etc. There are several clubs and committees for the extracurricular activities offered by the college. Each club and committee organized exciting events every month to make student life interesting and value-added.
Hostel Facilities
There are 3 kinds of rooms provided by the hostel i.e, 4-sharing room, 3-sharing room and twin sharing room. Every room is equipped with an air-conditioner, wi-fi, separate washroom and bathroom facilities, balcony, drying area etc. On every floor, there are two pantries as well which are equipped with a refrigerator, induction, microwave oven etc. Hostel is compulsory for every MBA student. Quality of mess food is also food, they change their menu every week.
Admission
The minimum eligibility of the course is you must graduate from any recognized university in any recognized branch of study. After that, it is mandatory to appear for the SNAP exam which is conducted by Symbiosis International University every year. You can find the application form easily on any Symbiosis College website or SNAP website as well. Application form fees are Rs. 1800/exam and you can give a maximum of 3 exams. The only best score is considered for your evaluation for further process. Application dates tentatively in December or in January every year. The exam consists of 60 questions for which you have 60 minutes only. As we talk about difficulty level, the exam is easier than highly competitive exams like CAT, XAT etc. but slightly difficult than exams like MAT, CMAT etc. During the admission process, you need to pay Rs. 1000 for every college or course to which you want to apply. I think this thing needs to improve because it becomes more costly.
Interview Experience
Yes, there was a three-step process after the SNAP examination which included a Group Discussion, an Interview and a Written Ability test as well. My topic for the Group discussion was 'East and West, India is the best' approx 6-7 candidates in my panel. In a personal interview, they asked me some questions related to my academic background, some general knowledge-based and some basic questions like about my plans, what specialization I will target etc. I watched some mock videos of GD & PI on youtube and started practising according to that.
Other Applied Colleges
Jaipuria Institute of Management | Post Graduate Diploma in Management [PGDM]
I didn't opt for this college because as we all know that MBA is a residential program, In MBA time never sleeps or watch never stops so for all these we all need to stay in a college accommodation or a hostel and hostel services aren't provided by colleg
