Entrance Preview :
Passion for cooking made me choose this field. Appeared for JEE(hotel management) after 12th. Grabbed an IHM Mumbai seat in the last round. Securing 1036 AIR General category.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The Course focuses more on practical learning rather than theoretical knowledge but ensures to keep it balanced. When it comes to curriculum, IHM MUMBAI is one of the top institutes you can study in India. Study pressure is negligible if you work hard throughout the semester.
Internships Opportunities :
2nd yr will comprise of semester-long internships for B.Sc students which can be the 3rd semester or 4th semester depending upon your roll number. Top class 5 star hotels come for recruitment at the campus. The stipend is on the lower side offered by most of the hotels, but you will learn a lot. Marriott offers the highest stipend of around 5k.
Placement Experience :
IHM Mumbai is one of the best colleges to get an on-campus placement. Top luxury hotels come for recruitment at this college first. This college provides top quality hoteliers with extreme potential. Which attracts the companies a lot. Also, packages are higher compared to other colleges in Mumbai
College Events :
Every festival is celebrated with joy in IHM MUMBAI. Be it Onam to the very famous Ganesh Chaturthi. Students are provided with the sole responsibility of organizing these events.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
As this is a Government approved college, hence the fees should not be a problem for most of the students and the college also provides a concession for different caste students. Mumbai is expensive for some and cheap for some, you will just need to adapt according to your expenses and lifestyle
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
Scholarships are offered by the college to those of lower minorities and not able to afford complete tuition fee. Partial aid is provided by the government for them
Campus Life :
Kitchens are very well equipped with all the major machines required nowadays to cook. College fancies two dummy restaurants for FnB practicals. Air-conditioned computer lab used for Front Office practicals And well-ventilated lecture rooms make this college interesting.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel is not available for 1st ye students and they will have to rent their own flats or pg. PGs in the area near college will cost you more rather than a little far away. Pgs in Dadar has an average rent of 10k for one-bed sharing room. But you can look for a room in the central line if looking for cheaper alternatives.
Alumni/Alumna :
Most of the managerial level people in today 5-star hotel industry are IHM Mumbai graduates and they are super helpful to someone passed out from the same college
Exam Structure :
The Exams schedule can be difficult for freshers as we are now used to attend 3-4 exams of different subjects in a day. But given the fact that the curriculum is not vast and hard to understand, students easily get used to this from First Sem. Currently, the schedule is 2 terms of exams per semester.
Admission :
Filled up NCHM JEE form online and then prepared for the exam from general aptitude and arihant jee books. Then after the results, counselling took place. 3 rounds of counselling over few weeks, and i was alloted my dream college. One will have to pay some fees after seat allotment round 1 to book the seats and always go for float option as this will increase the chance for promotion of alloted institue.
Faculty :
IHM Mumbai has reputed for possessing well qualified and fairly renowned faculty in India. They will give one, their exp, knowledge, and skills, that will help the students to excel further than other college’s students. Also, the faculty is very friendly and helpful in all matters.
