A Candid glimpse of VISTAS

Dislikes

  • The fees structure may not be ideal as it is a little higher
  • Hostel food. The quality of food does not align with the fees charged for it.

Course Curriculum Overview :

Microbiology was a relatively unfamiliar subject to me until I stumbled upon it while exploring biology-based courses online. Initially I didn't think i would like it but believe me when I say I loved it!! The reason I choose this course is out of passion for microbes and diseases and definitely not because it doesn't have maths (or maybe both lol!) The another reason I came to love it was because of the faculties. All the faculties are doctorates who has done PhD in this field you can learn a lot...really a lot!! From them.. they are friendly to the students and help you with anything like projects..or doubts on the subject.Exams are pretty easy to pass both the internal and university examinations as they provide you with all the study materials.

Internships Opportunities :

For microbiology internships, opportunities in food industries and hospitals are provided. During the 4th semester, we embarked on an internship focused on food technology. It's worth noting that for stipend-paid internships, students have the flexibility to choose any laboratory or hospital for their practical experience.

Placement Experience :

The placement at VISTAS is good, and all students without arrears can secure positions in well-reputed companies, with a maximum annual package of 3 lakhs per annum. From 5th semester onwards students are eligible to attend campus drive and they provided placement training, which prepares students for attending placement interviews—a very beneficial aspect, especially for those not proficient in communication skills.

Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :

The fee structure for BSc varies based on the major you choose, and for Microbiology specifically, the tuition fees range from 40,000 to 43,000 per year. When it comes to accommodation, the hostel fees differ, with options ranging from 60,000 to 1,00,000 per year, depending on preferences for AC or non-AC rooms. It's worth noting that while the college itself doesn't provide scholarships(that I am aware of)there are opportunities for financial assistance from external parties. Students have the option to explore various scholarship programs offered by organizations, government bodies, or private institutions. Additionally, the availability of student loans provides them financial support to pursue their education.

Campus Life :

Social life at VISTAS is Extraordinary!.you can have a an amazing social life at VISTAS.there many clubs, sports, art clubs etc to expand and show off you talents.. VISTAS gives equal importance to extracurricular activities as well.there are several famous people and influencers as alumins of vistas.. VELS NAKSHATRA is the main intercollege program conducted every year where students from all other colleges participate..and the another thing is the LIBRARY. I can't stress this enough!! The library has many many books useful books you can not only use it for academic purposes but also for reading novels(only the historical novels such as Shakespeare and jane Austen don't expect romcoms and all!! ),self help books etc etc!!if you're a bookworm you're going to love the Library. The Campus is beautiful and well maintained!! Overall a decent campus.

Admission :

The eligibility criteria for a Bachelor's in Microbiology require a minimum of 60% in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics majors in both 10th and 12th grades. A subject in Biology is mandatory, ensuring that students have a strong foundation before delving into the specialized coursework of microbiology. The application process is straightforward and easily accessible on the college's official website. To apply, fill out the admission form, and note that an online payment must be made for the admission form fees. Alternatively, if feasible, you can visit the college in person to apply for the course. There is no any particular entrance exam for Bsc in VISTAS if you meet all the eligibility criteria then consider yourself an alumni at VISTAS.

Other Applied Colleges

Madras Christian College - [MCC] | Bachelor of Science [B.Sc] (Microbiology)

Applied for both and was waiting for both the colleges... I got at vels before mcc so opted for vels.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Because chemistry is a good course it had a bright future. The student ratio is 40 in each department. We had only two faculties so teaching is not enough. Yes, exams are very difficult for students because we had fewer teachers so it would be difficult to pass.

Admission:

I got admission in this college based on my marks in 12th standard. I am studying Bachelor of Science in Zoology. Merit list is prepared based on our marks scored in 12th. This is good college in our place and it is women's college which is also suitable for me. Candidate must have studied physics, chemistry and biology in 12th standard for admission in this course.

Placement Experience:

There are many companies which recruits students from our college from various branch. Few of them are Wipro, Sutherland, global services, IBM, TCS, Transworks, wase, KGiSL, etc. Job opportunities for Bsc Zoology students is less. Internship opportunities are not provided by college but help us to find.

Remarks:

Positive - The Library. It is dumped with more than 82k books. With digital library and fantastic reference section. Play ground, gym etc well equipped and nicely maintained. Nice wifi connectivity. Canteen with nominal rate any one could afford. Entrepreneur we have TBI for young Entrepreneurs fully functioning. Negative - Staff have to update or read books before they come to class. Syllabus should match the industrial needs. Labs should be well equipped.
