- Very dramatic climate, Summers here are very hot and humid, it rains kika cats and dogs in monsoon, and freezing winters. You will experience the extremes of all seasons here.
- The dhanbad city is not very big. It has few malls and places to explore.the city is surrounded by dense forest cover.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I have a personal interest in circuital and computer courses and I have filled the preference order in JOSAA counselling and got allotted here. The classrooms here are very spacious but not air-conditioned. They are equipped with a mic and loudspeaker system and are digitalized with a projector screen system. Each class has around 135 students per faculty member. the faculty here is very experienced with degrees, and honors in foreign universities. They are very old and knowledgeable. Their average age is above 35.
Internships Opportunities :
The internships are conducted by the Career Development Center CDC here at IIT ISM. Some of the Companies arriving are- Axxela, Amazon, Atlassian, Accenture, traveling, Mercedes, oracle, tata,ltij, Siemens, NXT wave, cozen, De Shaw, sprinkler,swiggy, and Microsoft. oles are based on SDC, trading, financial, etc. You can do projects in technical clubs or NVCTI.NVCTI conducts workshops and programs where interested can participate.
Placement Experience :
From the third semister, the placements are open for btech students. CDC conducts placements. Many companies around 150+ visit IIT ISM for placements. Some of them are Amazon, Axel, Flipkart,jio, Goldman Sachs, Jaguar, Accenture, Oracle, sprinkle, De Shaw, arista, Atlassian, Texas Instruments, tata, Walmart, Bajaj, Axtria, Barclays, Morgan Stanley, cairn,über, etc.
Loan/ Scholarship Provisions :
The fee structure is divided into three categories based on the reservation you have. Full fees for general. 66-100 percent fee is waived off for students based on their parents' income. Additionally, scholarships are also provided to students. The institute has a career development center that oversees internships and placements. The placements here are reasonably good compared with other IITs in this league.
Campus Life :
This campus has the world's second-largest Library. It has 3 floors completely filled with books. The library is fully air-conditioned and free to use for everyone. Classrooms are big and are digitalized with a projector screen setup. They are equipped with a mic system. There are three types of clubs on campus- sports, cultural and technical. Sports clubs are very active with professional coaches. They train very hard for the inter-IIT sports championship conducted every month.
Hostel Facilities :
The btech students are allotted in three Hostels on a double students per room basis. Recently a new 2000 boys hostel was inaugurated which is very modern in style. All hostels have fire systems installed and emergency exits. The mess is situated inside the hostel. The mess here is of very good quality with non veg option for 4 days a week. Every Sunday chicken biryani is provided. And a grand dinner for 3 times per semister.
Admission :
There is no entrance exam conducted specifically for this college but to gain admission into any IIT you need to go through JEE MAINS AND ADVANCED entrance exams. The counselling is done through the JOSAA website and it lasts for about a month. You will be allotted a course based on your performance and reservation benefits. Soon after the counseling is done and if you get allocated to this college, an offer letter will be sent to you. After reaching the campus, institute will conduct physical registration and an ID card will be provided to you.
